Hey you first fillers, had mine Tuesday, it hurt alot and doesn't feel any different. 2cc in a 10 cc band. I wish I had some restriction as I finding this waiting thing tough.

Janine, how do you feel now with the 5 cc in???

MVR...It hurt a lot????? Everyone says fills are a piece of cake. I haven't had a fill yet and now I don't think I want to. How could it not hurt?? Any time someone sticks a long needle in your stomach it's gotta hurt. I just hoped they were all right. Maybe they just didn't want to scare us newbies. Well...I am scared to death of my first fill and in no hurry to have it.

Aw munch sorry to scare you, but i was all primed up for a non painful experience going by what everyone else was saying and it was YUK. my port area is still abit sore to press so thats probably why it hurt but i must say so far all my experiences have been more unpleasant than I have read about ( I think I'm just a wimp) !!!! Yours will be like everyone else's and you won't even know it's done. I don't even care about the pain I just wish I had some restriction!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK

Marga I don't have much restriction. I had my fill a week ago, July 31, and I can eat just about anything. After surgery I would get chicken and some fish stuck, with the pain in my chest and sliming. I still don't eat white meat chicken, but I have not had that happen. Maybe I am chewing more, I don't know? I have had this weird thing happening with food feeling like it is stuck in my throat. Like after you vomit. It is gross. Yesterday that was there and after about 2 hours from lunch I felt like I was going to pbing, but I didn't. So, maybe I have some thing going on, I just don't feel it? I have my next appointment on August 24, and should get another fill.

Munchkin everyone is so different. I did not have a good experience. It was not due to pain, but due to my anxiety when they could not find my port and they had the needle in me, searching around. I kept trying to talk myself out of the faint feeling, but I could not control it! I felt so stupid, because it really did not hurt! My port is tilting a bit. I am not looking forward to the next one, but I WANT IT!!!!!!

You will do fine.

MVR, that's ok

You yourself didn't really scare me I think I am just looking for an excuse not to ever have a fill. I too am a WIMP. For the first time since my surgery I can feel my port. Hope I didn't pop something in my sleep. Maybe its the port saying HERE I AM get ready for the big stick because it's a comming. Don't worry I am fine. A little hungry but otherwise ok.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
