Hello everyone, my name is Free. I had gastric bypass surgery April 6th. So far I've lost 31lbs & I'm feeling pretty good. My surgery was actually a revision from lapband surgery that I had back in 2009. My band slipped and I had it removed back in February. It's good to be able to join this group. Glad to meet, share and support you all on this journey. Good luck and congrats to you all.

Sonnie456 thanks! Congrats on taking the first step. Don't be nervous,. The process is tedious but so worth it. Luck for me my insurance didn't have a waiting period.

Jane 13 I lost about 70 lbs with the band and gained most of it back. Once it slipped it was all downhill. From the beginning I could never find that "sweet spot " where I felt like I had just enough fluids in my band. It was never really right. Then the reflux started! Omg! Some days I could barely swallow my own saliva. I was soooo glad when my surgeon removed it.

Why did you choose gastric by pass instead of sleeve? I'm having revision to sleeve, just curious about why you chose bypass

Normally your doctor will let you choose. My doctor actually suggested rny because I had horrible reflux and the sleeve can actually make it worse. So he was worried about me causing unnecessary problems for myself. I also had more weight to lose and rny patients tend to lose more weight & faster. I'm doing great. Starting weight was 352...at surgery I was 341. At my 2 week post op on 4/17 I was 309!!! Lost 31 lbs in the first 2 weeks. It's an adjustment with the tiny portions but I'm loving what I'm seeing in my body. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you! I understand, I too have the Lapband and had terrible reflux problems when it was filled, my surgeon tho thinks by pass might be too much in his opinion, my reflux completely disappeared once Lapband was unfilled. Did you have the Lapband retired in the same surgery? I will and I just hope it all goes ok! Thank you for sharing! :)

No I had band removed and all my repairs done (scar tissue removed, hernia repair etc) then I was suppose to wait 4-6 weeks but it ended up being longer because we had a blizzard in va. My surgeon doesn't do them at the same time. In hindsight I'm glad he didn't. After surgery I developed a bowel obstruction and had to be rushed back to the hospital. It cleared itself without additional surgery which I was 20 minutes away from. For me, I like being able to recover from band removal & it gave the doctor a chance to see what he was up against.

Just sleeved. I'm on purée as well, though a lot of things I just take the time to mindfully chew it. Still trying to figure out how much is enough.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
