4 1/2 years banded and need to start again

Recommended Posts

October 2010 I was banded with a 10cc band. I did fantastic. Before I started the journey I was 324. Lowest I got was 209 and that was truly too low for me. I did not look myself and I was obsessed with what I ate and exercised a lot. Well since I exercised so much and intensely, I caused a stress fracture in my foot. Well 2 surgeries later and facing another one probably this summer, I am 304. I am such an emotional eater. I keep saying I am ready to start again and I think I am. I need encouragement. :). I have a desk job and tend to munch on candy and such. Anyone have any good nibble Snacks to have at my desk for stress eating. Send some tips of how you got back on track and what snacks you eat. Thanks.

I am in the same boat, I was banded in 2008. I did everything I was supposed to do and lost my weight hit my goal and kept it off for over 5 years. My fill center closed down (I had surgery in Mexico so no one around me will touch my band) I got the flu and was vomiting terribly which caused my stomach to swell around my already to tight band and I dehydrated and went into kidney failure. After being rushed to the hospital finely someone was able to unfill my band. after a brief hospital stay I was back to normal but my band was empty and again no help with fills I have gained back most of my weight this past year :( a total of 70lbs. I feel so defeated and angry at myself. But I am ready to start over and although it saddens me you are struggling it also helps and I am grateful you are sharing your story because it helps me know that I am not alone in this struggle. I really think I feel worse about the weight now than I did before I originally lost my weight. Running into people and seeing the expression on their faces when they don't know what to say because I am fat again is not only annoying but quite frustrating. So bottom line is i'm ready to get back on track and will be following your progress.

I have gotten a lot out of the sources below in my signature -- it has helped me to reread and rewatch from time to time so I get the information in my head. Almonds work for me as a snack. I get the 100 cal pack and limit myself, chew each one a very long time, etc. And I eat when I'm hungry don't eat when not hungry -- no sliders. I benefitted from seeing a therapist to break down my triggers. It was tedious but I'm really glad to have gotten down to the nitty gritty of very specific things that caused me to reach for food so automatically. I had to know what those things were in order to retrain myself. Best wishes to both of you as you recommit to your health. Don't give up!

Thank you, I'm not giving up just have to start over and this time without a fill. I am determined and I know what to do, just have to do it and stick to it. Just mad at myself for waiting until I regained most of my weight to get back on track.

@@kimaly don't be mad at yourself -- be gentle. You deserve all good things, sometimes the Cosmic Clock is off a little bit. It's lining up for all of you right now -- here you are: ready. Pat yourselves on the back! Tool is installed, now to meet with the medical professionals and make a plan. Fills for me have been key. And no sliders. Learning to listen hard to the body has been great for me in many ways besides weight loss. Here's to tuning in!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
