New lingerie.......

Recommended Posts

Well, now that I'm down about 60 lbs. it was time to replace my old lingerie with new, more appropriately sized lingerie. The "girls" just were not happy hanging out in the old stuff, so I went shopping yesterday after work and got re-fitted for a new bra. The style I had been wearing for 2-3 years is no longer available so I had to find a new style. It never fails, find a style of something that you love and that is working for you and they always discontinue it sooner or later. Same with make-up, nail polish colors, Bath and Body Works scents. Can you relate?? Anyway, I'm very pleased with my new purchases, and so are the "girls."

Next shopping trip will probably be for more slacks for work. I'm down 2 sizes since surgery, just starting the current size this week.

Need to make a return trip to a consignment shop a friend had told me about. First trip there I found several tops for work for very little money (in comparison to buying brand new).

Did I mention how much I hate clothes shopping???? Always have and probably always will, but at least now I've got more options because I'm entering the area where I don't have to shop the plus size stores or sections of department stores.

Happy shopping, ladies!!!

Yea!

I got a new bra too recently and its the bra I always dreamed of. The old gals look 10 years perkier ;-) I haven't shopped in a brick and mortar store for years. I figured if I could fit in it that was good enough and putting on makeup felt like decorating a gourd.

Now that I've dropped some weight I find I do care about fit and color and makeup etc so i went out shopping last weekend. And it was a blast!.

Enjoy your new attire!

@@Swampdoggie - We're on a roll!!! Let's keep on keeping on!

I do love finding stuff on sale, and love buying colors! Always have. Since I've always had a waist no matter my weight, I've always preferred fitted clothes, esp. for work; moreso now that everything has shrink in size :)

I've always been of the mind that I never leave the house without some make-up on; but, as I've gotten older, on the weekends I don't worry as much with it when I head out to run errands, etc.

My biggest challenge right now is dealing with my hair.... :( It has gotten so thin and dry. I know it will grow back, but styling it like I like has been a bit challenging. It used to be so very thick. Patience...patience...patience.

I had a sneaking suspicion you would start to like shopping! It is creeping in where you wouldn't expect it! Have you gone to a salon about your hair? If you haven't for awhile, you might find they have some tricks up their sleeves for the issues you (and all of us!!!) have. And a special treat for yourself doesn't hurt, either!

Since I had breast surgery years ago, I have a very challenging time finding bras, and now it is even worse. So I have been going with Barely There, which kinds stretches over the "awkward" areas. BUT they don't conceal enough for me, so I have to use inserts for that. Sure would like to find a type/brand that has all that built in, so I can just throw and go!

My joy today was at the Harley-Davidson dealership, where I could wrap around me a jacket in the size that used to be too small for me. I just couldn't stop laughing about it! Poor sale's gal never did understand......

So happy for you! Nothing like getting new underthings........make everything fit properly and also make us feel good getting dressed (and undressed!). I, too, was a shopping hater who feels herself coming around. I just put a post up about getting a dress today (sleeveless, eek!). It was in a consignment store and I felt so free and happy wandering around looking at things in all the various sizes rather than having to seek out the plus section. This is one sassy dress, too. Kind of old fashioned, linen, deep V and a black and white pattern that I love. Yippee!

Isn't it funny what things motivate us! I went to Victoria's Secret 12 weeks ago and purchased 2 beautiful new sexy lacy bras in a 38c. At the time I was wearing a 46c. I did this as incentive to keep on going. About two weeks ago I ended up having to buy one new bra because I am basically falling out of the others. I am so close to being able to wear those gorgeous beauties in my drawer. I bought a 40c and it fits very comfortably.

So close to that 38 in my drawer! I cannot wait.

On Wednesday I went to my hair stylist and told her I wanted a short haircut that complements my new thin face and the fact that my hair has thinned so much. Well I love it! I swear my new do makes me look 10 years younger! And everybody has noticed and tells me how pretty I look! Other than my hubby I have not heard those words in many years.

The new do was very uplifting!

I'm visiting my mom in a few weeks. The last time I was home was in October for my dad's funeral and I was sick, fat and miserable. As a surprise for my mom, who has been a courageous inspiration to me, and a reward for me for the weight loss and other health related progress, I've engaged someone to do our colors. I've always wanted to do this and now that I have more choice in size and style, and dont look like an ashen pumpkin, it seems like a great time. My DH weighed in with my second favorite sentence of "knock yourself out, da baby". I'm excited and looking forward to some shopping with my mom and SIL following. Woot woot!

I bet you will love shopping the closer you get to goal weight. I've always hated lingerie shopping because my boobs were always kind of floppy whenever I was thin and I have never looked good in underwear. I saw these sexy thongs and even cute little boy short undies, and I'd buy them and put them on, and be like, umm why does my butt not look like the picture?! I had several plastic surgeries, so I guess I cheated a bit, but for the first time in my life I can wear actual cute lingerie, look in the mirror, and not feel ridiculous. So..I can very much appreciate how excited you are.

Also, I have the problem with running shoes...how you find the perfect fit or style of something and then they change it. I have been using the same style of Mizuno's for several years and they discontinued them. That is my current problem in that category, lol.

Congrats on your NSV!

When this has happened to me before, I have called the manufacturer for a recommendation. I haven't been steered wrong yet! ????

@@Djmohr - I buy my bras at Lane Bryant - the Cacique brand. New commercial out says #I'mNotAnAngel...LOL!!! Pre-surgery I would joke that I'm a 44D long. Well, now the girls are 42C long....LOL!!! Never been perky, ever, and they sure aren't going to be as I get older. I still love wearing the fun colors and prints tho. That "other" store won't get my business because the one time I walked in there to see if they carried my size, their customer service stunk. The gal at Lane Bryant the other day was awesome and extremely helpful in getting me fitted properly in a new bra style and correct size underwear. Enjoying all!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
