I had my surgery Feb of 2013. At first all was going well, I never felt any restriction, I didn't have any complications. My progress went great at first, until I started back on solid foods. I didn't have problems adjusting to a solid food diet afterwards, and little by little I started eating a bit more, and a bit more. I guess I've pretty much just hit a wall as far as the surgery is concerned. I didn't follow through like I should have, so instead of the usual "surgery failed me" posts, this is my "I failed my surgery" plea for any assistance.

I had surgery with Dr. Kim in Colleyville, and after recent contacts from his staff as well as their "awesome" support group leaders, it appears unless I have a revision surgery I'm on my own with getting back on track. I've put on about 30 pounds back, I started at over 400 and I'm sitting around 330 right now, so there was some success, I'd just like to get back on track and get to my overall goal weight of 260.

Anyone been in this position before, and what did you do to start things back up? I'm working out, I hike about 10-15 miles a week, and I mountain bike 20-25 miles a week (just started back up). I carry a pretty good amount of muscle mass from my powerlifting days, but have recently retired from competitive lifting so I'm not lifting as heavy weights, or as often.

I am only 6 months out but just wanted to pass along some encouragement. I hope you find the answer to be able to continue your journey. I am terrified of failure. Are you saying you never felt any restriction? I find that certain foods are easier to go down but I still feel full with liquids. Again, I wish you the best!

Hi, @@Mark!
If you're really ready it sounds like you need to do a few things to get back on track. In addition to coming here for support, you should probably attend Bariatric Support Group meetings at your local hospital as well. You can hear from others who are struggling or succeeding, and get tips from the leaders, nutritionists, and medical personnel who attend.

Secondly, it sound like you need to reengage with your sleeve. At the bottom of this post I'm going to put a couple of links I've collected. I haven't tried them myself, but lots of people swear by them. You probably need to treat this like you've just been sleeved. Go through several days of liquids only, then several days of pureed foods, then several days of semi-soft foods, and then back to regular food. But you'll need to follow all the rules from your surgery: 80+ grams of Protein every single day, 64+ ounces of fluids every single day, no carbs except those that come in non-starchy vegetables. No sugar,. no booze, soda, or fruit juices. And you'll need to eat your food in order – Protein first, then veggies, then..... well, you should be out of room by then. Lather, rinse, repeat, every. single. day!

If you're really ready to lose the rest of the weight, you'll need to commit to that program. The good news is that your sleeve should help you. Keep it happy by keeping it full of fluids to help stave off hunger. And make sure all your Snacks are protein-based (meat, Jerky, nuts, cheese, yogurt, dried veggies). The other really good news is that you're already exercising, so you don't have to get that part rolling again.

Congratulations on wanting to do this, and good luck on your journey! We're all pulling for you!!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
