I did have a hernia I was on a med for acid reflex. So I should go back on it?

I'm surprised your surgeon didn't prescribe a PPI post-op.

I wasn't taking anything before surgery, but my surgeon put me on PPIs post op. Call and ask about this, but it seems like if you needed them before you still might.

Definitaly call your surgeon and ask about a PPI. If you can't get a prescription, you can go to pretty much any store or pharmacy and buy the over-the-counter dosage. I get the over-the-counter generic of Prilosec (omeprazole). I take one in the morning and one in the evening each day and that keeps my acid in check. You could start off with just one per day (evening is probably best) and see how that goes.

I was going to recommend the same thing. Start with 20mg and go up to 40 if needed. It really will make a big difference.

I can only take liquid medication?

The omeprazole pills are tiny and I was allowed to start taking them immediately post-op.

It just means OTC is not an option. Your doctor can prescribe a liquid PPI.

@@stephnichols -Did you have them before WLS? I neverhad any leg cramps. It could be your electrolytes are off. Coconut Water, gatarade oe bananas might help.

You should call your doctor with your conerns. They may recommend something else or bring you in for a follow up.

What about the leg cramps mine stopped a long time ago but now there back an there terrible

I've had leg cramps my whole life. Mine are due to potassium deficiency and dehydration. Make sure you are getting your Water and some electrolytes.

@@stephnichols ... we were taught by the surgeon and the NUT, you are allowed to open the prilosec or crush whatever other PPI you get and add it to your Protein Shakes or whatever other mashy food you are allowed. You dont have to swallow the pill. I just learned this last night , I wasn't aware either that it was ok to open prilosec, but it is.

Best of luck .. and just advice.. stay away from pizza.. that's a long time out before you will probably be ok with that.

@@stephnichols .. in the same meeting we learned that leg cramps are common and it's probably a combo of potassium and Water deficiency so get yourself a potassium Vitamin crush it or open it and add to a shake or food and obviously Water water water.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
