I am trying to explain to my mum bout it as she can't understand why I am not happy as I have lost 40lb since the start of my pre op and I am over the moon I have lost that I have another 150 to go but to b 40lb down is amazing! But it's still so difficult

Don't. You have no control over anyone else's thinking. Stop frustrating yourself and simply work on you. At the end of the day all you can really control is you.

I have been keeping a journal and I can tell you I had many emotional breakdowns. It is "no fun" to learn to deal with emotions instead of eating them away. I have caught myself in the McDonald's drive thru and then think "What am I doing"? It is crazy but anyone that suffers from "food addiction" can relate to what I am saying. I am 10 weeks 3 days post op. I lost 10 pounds before my sleeve and I weighed this morning and I was down 45 total pounds. So that's only 35 from the sleeve. I don't know if that is good or bad but I know I simply cannot worry about it anymore. This is an emotional roller coaster and nobody can really understand unless they have been through it. I will say that as time goes on and you can get off of some of the restrictions you will start to feel somewhat normal again. Hang in there. I do feel better and I do look better and that makes it all worth it.

I am on day 3 of the liquid diet in pre-op. I too am struggling emotionally. It really is not the hunger, I feel like I have lost my best friend. I really just don't know what to do with myself. Feeling anxious.

Do your best if you need to bake the powder just so you can chew do that. The key is they want to know if you can tolerate a low calorie diet. I lost 14 pounds and they only wanted me to loose 8 it was hard emotionally hard but just know it's for a higher purpose.

I just had my surgery last Tuesday and I'm on a liquid diet too! I was crazy depressed for the first few days but I feel a ton better now! It takes different times for different people! I also noticed a change when I cut my antidepressants in half. It really helped! Just make sure you take to your doctor first!

Stay strong! You are COURAGEOUS!

To all, it really does get better after day 3 or 4. I am surprisingly not starving. I just miss eating, which is what got me so overweight. I am done with week 1. Half way there.

Mine is ending in 48 hours but to get to the 48 hours is hell! I then have to start introducing soft stuff and it just isn't the same now! I used to be excited bout my meals and I was gonna have certain food and now I actually don't want to eat cause I get depressed! It sounds bizarre and it is but it's also stressful to feel this way

For me the first month was brutal. Mentally and emotionally. I would have outburst of crying spells. I had my bitchy moods. My 3rd wk i said to myself what the hell have i done? I had to have a serious self talk..i wanted FOOD! But i had to remind myself my brain was having major withdrawals i was a self comfort eater..i had to buckle down and get my mind on other things. Cry if you need to. Your body is going through major change. I understand about the depression..I've suffered over 25 yrs of some different forms of this. Hang in there! Hormones are haywire! After my 4th wk it was gone. I felt totally different. I seen by the end of wk 1 after i lost 25 pds i knew i made the right choice for me it worked..so i knew my mind and emotions were screaming..im 8 months out over 100 down..its soo worth it. Hang in there! ☺

I am 3 and 1/2 weeks post op and I am Really mourning food. I know some of it is hormones.... This too shall pass. Just know you are not alone.

Yes I think Alot of it is hormonal it's just so frustrating! I had potato and mince tonight and it was amazing but I ended Up eating too much cause I can't work out when I am full and then I got bad pains and cramps and thought I was going to vomit

My advice would be to start with ¼ cup. Eat it slow. Wait a good 20 -30 minutes after eating before getting any more. You will eventually get to know your body's cues for fullness, but since you are early staging and still healing it may not have kicked in yet. You also need to allow time for the belly & brain to communicate that you are full.

Yes it's going to look like a crazy small amount of food, but it will be enough. With time you may be able to eat more or you may be one of those who needs to eat multiple tiny meals.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
