  1. 1. What is your relationship with exercise?

    • True love. It makes me feel better, it’s helping my weight loss, and it keeps me sane. Couldn’t go without it!

    • Love-hate. I know it’s great, and I love it when it’s over.

    • It goes in the same category as medicine. Take my daily medicines, do my daily exercise, and try not to think about medicines or exercise the rest of the day.

    • It’s good, in its place. I try to get something in a few times a week, and it’s not bad.

Exercise…it’s not the only thing that’ll make you lose weight after weight loss surgery, but it definitely supports your weight loss surgery diet. It’s a lot easier to get your workout in when there’s something you love to do, but not everyone does. What is your relationship with exercise?

Love-hate. I get so much energy from exercise, but I feel guilty sometimes because it seems as if everything I'm doing this year is all about me.

I've been able to increase my time and resistance on both the exercise bike and elliptical machines. My thighs and butt are definitely benefiting from the machines.

Love/hate. A necessary evil. I am starting to enjoy it....a little. It also depends on what kind of exercise. I find the treadmill soul sucking.

True Love - Exercise was a requirement at first. I have traded years of food addiction to gym addiction. I'm a stress eater. No cookie or pizza has ever helped me cope with stress like working out does.

I have a distance run to raise funds for Vets. March 14th. The shamrock shuffle. Great charity and a good time at a beautiful winery. Just having fun with it and I'm involving my friends and family.

True love, exercise has allowed me to relieve stress in a positive way and feel great , I have also met some good friends as well as it helps me deal with boredom with a positive outlet.

Love/hate. I love how I feel afterwards and I always hate getting started.

It makes me feel like I have accomplished so much.

True love most days, but there are definitely days of love/ hate mixed in there too! I actually enjoy exercising and it is my stress reliever. I work out my frustrations by sweating them out and distress too. However, getting ready to go in the morning when it is belo zero plus 30mph winds with wind chill warnings making it --50 to -60 with wind chill, those mornings I hate the gym. My gym time is one of the true alone time I have completely to myself. I don't have anything I need or should do, no chores staring me in the face, nobody calling for Mom, no planning schedules or meals or shopping or homework or etc. gym time is truly about me and only me. I put my headphones on, crank my music, and zone out. It helps keep a bit if my sanity intact which makes me a better wife and mother.

Great topic! It is very interesting to see what everyone's individual feelings and motivators are for fitness. It also makes me think differently about my reasoning.

Hate... Only hate. I workout 5 days a week about 45minutes each time, & I hate every stinking second of it!

My husband is my accountability partner. He's supper athletic, so it's nice to have someone to go with... But it still sucks.

I hope with all my heart that I will one day like it!! Lol until then at least I can read my Nook while I'm on the elliptical!

It's good in its place. I exercise at least three days a week and some weeks more. I will say this.. I have always hated exercise, now I find that I am starting to enjoy it more. I try to keep it mixed up with outdoor running, gym, and workouts at home. My husband and I are going to take rowing lessons when the weather warms up.

I don't think exercise will ever be a passion, but it isn't bad. Also, I am enjoying feeling more fit and increasing my cardiovascular endurance.

I like it when I'm doing it but its hard to get started. If I'm having a particularly hard time getting going, I tell myself I will do something for 10 minutes. If I still don't want to after that, I can stop. However, 9 times out of 10, by the time I hit 10 minutes I feel good and want to keep going.

As the saying goes,

I always regret it if I don't exercise and I never regret it when I do.

I really want to love it though.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
