I'm not on diabetes meds either anymore or heart meds-the weird thing is my heart issue isn't weight related (it's a rare form of tachycardia & most people with it are not overweight) but I just don't need meds anymore? I'll have to watch that though. As a result I do have more energy. I still have to take other meds (these also are not weight related)-but I noticed some I need different doses, some thing's I need half the dose and some thing's twice, and some thing's the same-it's all kind of strange.. But I'm ok with whatever works-hahaha.. I'm cool with more energy though-it's been a long time since I've seen that. ;-)

Hi everyone! I am glad to hear from so many that you have had such good results, March was our lucky month. I had my surgery on the 26th and am two weeks out today. I am amazed at how quickly recovery was for me and am thrilled to have had no real complications. I was in the hospital for three days as I was slow to get the liquids down but once I was over that hurdle everything has been moving on schedule.

I saw the dietician and the surgeons assistant today for my first post-op and was given the okay to add soft foods. I have lost 19 lbs!! I am starting to feel more restriction when I eat now which I am happy about since I was beginning to worry that somehow this hadn't worked for me. So far so good, I am greatful.

I had my surgery on 3/25 and I've only lost 5lbs. I am very disappointed. I thought I would be down more. I sticking to my plan as much as I can. Not hitting my Protein goal. I'm only getting in 40gm. Any suggestions?

Able to eat puddings, potages, Jello, yogurt. Still hard to drink but a few gulps: my stomach hurts then.

Still weak six days post-op. Is it normal?

Yes. Everyone is different. I found if I wasn't getting my Protein in I was weak as a kitten. I had my surgery on March 2nd felt great the first week then felt horrible for the next 3 weeks. I still feel rough most mornings

I had surgery 3/23.. Doing well so far. I have issues with Water consumption & getting enough Protein & timing my Calcium supplements. & I cannot stand the taste of the powder amino acid/protein mix I bought from the office-it's so bitter.. They highly recommended it in addition to Protein shakes. I've got to figure a way to doctor it up so it's palatable? Anyone try them? We are cleared to eat everything-just starting slowly & well chewed.. It's an adventure figuring things out.. I'm not touching steak though til like the week after or next. Remembering to not drink with food takes a conscious effort.. (& seems so strange?) oh and anyone deal with constipation-what are you doing?

My high was 305

Day of surgery I was 275

And today I'm 262

The Premier ready made Protein are awesome because they are 30g of protein in 12oz so 2 a day about does it. I couldn't drink any whey protein after surgery and these are thin and go down easy. Abd they don't have to be mixed!

I get it at Kroger near the ensure. It says it contains milk but I also have lactose intolerance. It's really the only one I can keep down since surgery.

I had my sleeve done on March 24th by Dr. Nick Nicholson. He is Awesome!! I am down 23 pounds but have been so hungry since day 1. I get to start of soft food in 4 days so looking forward to that and hoping the hunger will stop. Good Luck to all of the March Sleevers!! We can do this!!!

I was sleeved on March 18. I have had an easy recovery i think. But I will admit i advanced my diet and so far can tolerate everything except white bread. I'm feeling the stricture of full food. However I'm going back to liquids for a few days to reset myself mentally to slow down and follow docs orders. Any advice from anyone? Since things like deli meat and cheese isn't bothering me is there any point in going back to mush and liquid?

I was sleeved on 3/27/15, I lost 20 lbs by the end of week 2. I am in the middle of week 5 and have only lost 6-7 pounds since then. Today is one of those days when I'm not sure this is something that I should have done, as I've lost weight faster in the past, pre-surgery.

I started at 251, 5 weeks, days and weigh 224.8. Oh ans the tape measure is not moving either. I am very discouraged at this point.

Don't worry -it's a stall..

It's weird I didn't lose much for a few weeks, then like overnight 8lbs gone.. I'm ok with that. ;-)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
