Starting out at age 45? How common?

Recommended Posts

I was 60 when I had my surgery. There are a lot of people on this board who are over 45. I think we're actually in the majority. You're in good company.

I started the process at 45, turned 46 in May, had my surgery Ocotober 27th 2014, and will be 6 months out by my 47th birthday on May 5th.

I originally went to a seminar about 5 years ago, REALLY REALLY wish I had followed thru back then. But better later than never!!

Good Luck on your journey!!

I'll be 47 next month and my surgery is in June. Wish I had done it earlier, but so happy to be doing it now!

Was banded 3 days before my 53rd birthday. I wish WLS had been this perfected when I was younger; I'd have done this in my 20s and my entire life would have been different (I imagine).

Yep. There are a lot of us. Ahem.. Mature people on this site.

Surely I would have done this in my 30's if it was available

But 51 worked for my life... Now 60 and happy and healthy

Good luck no matter what decade you start at !????

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
