Keeping weight loss surgery a secret

Recommended Posts

I have only told a handful of people. My kids don't know because they tend to tell my ex-husband and his new wife everything. And frankly, it's none of their business. I had gotten a comment from his wife that my daughter said I had lost a lot of weight (at the time only 37 lbs) and she said I hope you didn't do the gastric bypass thing because that is the cowards way out, cheating ya know? I also had a hernia repair and that is the surgery that everyone thinks I had. It was a private decision. And I don't need or care to hear everyones opinion about it. I am healthy now and happy and my current husband supports me 110% Best decision ever.

I told my husband and my immediate family, I also told my very close 2 cousins because we have dinner together every week and I can't just sit there and lie and say am not hungry, they know me too well lol!

I did not tell my judgmental maternal side of the family and no one at work knows, I hate being watched and it's really none of their business.

I had the surgery in Feb so I might change my mind later but I work in a very competitive environment and they already spend enough time talking behind my back, I am not adding this to the mix!

I chose to keep mine very private. If they ask how did I lose weight, I'll just say I had an appendectomy. My twin sister and my niece are the only ones that will know. I'm not even telling my son. My twin sister had hers done in Mexico in December. The same circle are the only ones that know, me and her daughter.

I would have liked to keep mine more private, I only told my mum and 2 supportive friends, but my mum took it upon herself to tell lots of people, then it's amazing how it gets around. ????

That's why my dad is being kept in the dark! He is such a gossip! :-)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
