Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Finally got my date! June 15th, and I cant wait. My sons birthday is the day before so I am happy that I will actually be up to having a party for him. Still working on the dreaded pre-op diet, which should have been done with next week but insurance tied things up for a couple of weeks so by my surgery day I will have been on the diet for about 8 weeks.... but ive lost 25 lbs so far so I shouldn't really complain I guess.

Just got my insurance approval. I see my surgeon one more time on Tuesday. I should get my June date then. The sooner the better.

I'm scheduled for June 18. I'm excited and nervous all in the same boat. I keep reading the bad side where people don't lose much. I need to lose 100#. I think that is a good goal for me. We shall see.

Hi All,

I'm new and this is my first post. I don't have a date yet but I have done some testing that was required. I see my surgeon for the first time Tuesday. I am hoping I can get an estimate on the timing for surgery. I still have to do the psych eval, nut, and probably the sleep test oh and the EGD but cant do any of them until I see the surgeon first.

I have been thinking about this surgery for the last 3 or 4 years and kept thinking its still a head game with or without the surgery so I kept trying to do it on my own. <sigh> have not been successful. I have a friend that had the surgery 6 months ago and an acquaintance that had it done a year ago which I have seen recently and she has lost 90lbs and looks great. That's when I started getting excited and thinking about really doing it. So now I am finally ready and very impatient!! lol

I have received my surgeons pre op and post op diet and the first 2 weeks are 2 shakes, 1 for Breakfast and 1 for lunch and then a hearty Soup for supper but cant be cream based. Then the last 2 days before surgery its Clear Liquids only. Oh and I can have 2 Snacks sugar free popsicle, pudding and cottage cheese. Then post op is clear liquids only for the first week and other liquids for the second week.

My big question is what are ya'll using for the clear Liquid Protein? I know Isopure is an option but I was looking for other options. Thank you so much!!

Unjury makes an unflavored Protein that can be added to your liquids. It is available online or, maybe, through your bariatric center.

Check out bariatric surgery on Pinterest for lots of ideas and recipes for the first couple of weeks. I even found a recipe for pimento cheese + protein that I'm looking forward to trying.

I have my ultrasound tomorrow and admissions at the hospital and than I am completely done and OR bound. Starting a little bit of getting nervous because June 10th has snuck up on me so fast. I can't even believe I've been on this post since February. Starting my liquid diet tomorrow fingers crossed!

They called last night because they had a cancellation for my sleep study!! SO I didn't have to wait till June 7th - that means my last MD appointment with the sleep doc should be the first of next week---from there it's countdown time!!!

I think its just to make sure everything is clear no stones in the gallbladder stuff like that at least that's what it said online. Lol Its at my surgeons office though.

My sleeve surgery is scheduled for June 1st. Only had to get cardiac clearance. Unfortunately, my Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana insurance refuses to pay for any type of bariatric surgery even if there is a medical need for it (as mine is). Guess the good side of having to self-pay is I didn't have to go through all of the psychiatric evals, 6 month diets, etc. ure do with our insurance would cover it though! I'm on Day 8 of the Pre-op liquid diet and I am craving food. Amazingly, not the sweets that I thought I'd crave. Today's craving is grilled cheese sandwich with sauted onions on it. Only good thing is I do think I'll adjust to the small portions post-surgery because I swear I'd be happy with two small bites of a sandwich right now! But, I know I'm doing this to improve my health and I have three precious little grandsons that are a big part of my motivation. I want to be around to see them grow up and be able to run around and play with them without having to stop every few minutes to rest.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
