I had my psych evaluation today... Piece of cake! He told me I'm right on track with working on getting weight loss surgery! I'm at my halfway point! Getting super excited!

@Seahawkgirl & @mclorrie Thanks for sharing the post about the psych eval. So glad you are both done with them. I have been pushing that off until last, but I am gathering my courage..lol.. I am also half way and getting really pumped.

@remzel I know you had to be really dissapointed, but we are right here with you. My BMI is just over 40 too, so I have been trying to focus on one new behavior modification per month as a goal. My first one was to stop drinking all carbonated drinks. It was hard for me, but I am proud that I have not had one since December. The second month I started making sure I was drinking 60 oz of Water a day. This has been harder for me that I realized.. In the coming months I want to stop drinking during meals, and drop caffeine (coffee is a true love for me ) so that all the changes will not hit at once. I had read several veteran posts here that said that one of the things they would have done different is start the behavior mods sooner, so I am going to try my best to do that. I really, really want this..

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm so aware of this decision I've made to the point where I'm probably clinically obsessing. I read more, I check out youtube videos of the procedure, I read posts, I look at before/after pictures, I even read recipes. I'm so anxious to get on with it, on the one hand, and terrified on the other. Maybe terrified is too strong a word...sobered. I'm sobered by the seriousness that this change will mean for me for the rest of my life.

If I didn't have so much grading to do, I would have gone to my first support meeting tonight. I'm eager to meet others who are further down the road than me. I have nearly everything in place, but haven't had my consult with the surgeon yet. That's going to happen in early April.

I've circled June 9th on the calendar, so here's hoping that's when it turns out to be!

@@Engteacher, I'm the same way!! Reading everything, on these boards, bought a ton of Protein drink samples, Youtube, even reading other surgeons' post-op plans that I find with google...step away from the computer...lol.

I am the same way! I've been trying to pass the time by looking at YouTube videos - I've learned a lot from other people's video diaries who've had the sleeve done. Reading this forum has been really helpful! I'm thinking about buying the Big Book of Sleeve for my iPad. It will give me something else to do to pass the time, is anyone else thinking of buying it?

@@mclorrie I wanted to as well, but I have an old Nook (only Barnes & Noble). Alex posted how to purchase / download it on the Nook, but I have not tried it yet. Let me know what you think of it if you decide to get it. Great reviews so far.

Good idea @@Seahawkgirl!

I've been married for 34 years to my wonderful husband, and we have three grown children. Two boys - 32 & 30 and my daughter - 27. I have seven grandchildren ranging in ages from 11 yrs - 5 yrs old. I've lived in Iowa pretty much all of my life. And I'll be 54 next month.

Oh! And... @mykidzmom - I purchased The Big Book on the Gastric Sleeve last night! I read the first few chapters last night, and it's really interesting so far!

@@Seahawkgirl - what was the other book you downloaded? Let me know if it's a good read! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
