People are already starting to talk and I haven't had surgery yet!

I'm on my pre-op diet which means drinking Protein Shakes at work. I am already getting questions about what I am doing. I say I am doing the prep work for a major change in my life. They ask me what the change is and I tell them I am about to start a medically supervised weight loss program. Already I am hearing how drinking Protein shakes won't do me any good in the long run...too much protein is bad for my kidneys..do I really trust this doctor who is running this program....the key to losing weight is easy: move more/eat less....maybe these people are just out to make money off me....

Remember that I work in a food coop and most of the people I work with have never been overweight in their lives and belive that juicing a bunch of dandelion leaves 5 times a day is an appropriate treatment for hypertension.

It's this bad now, I wonder what is going to happen once I come bact to work after my surgery!

No matter what you do everyone has an opinion I've already told myself when theses questions come up i will have to say very nicely thanks for your concerns i have to try this for me. In the future please keep your opinions to your self. I let everyone give me an ear full 2 years ago which stopped me. NOT THIS TIME AROUND MATCH 30TH....

I had it all planned out in preparation for those kinds of questions. If anyone asked, I just told them that I was preparing for surgery to complete my transformation. When they asked what kind of transformation, I told them I was having a sex change, that I was a lesbian trapped in a man's body. That tended to shut them up, cause they couldn't figure that one out! :D

I told the truth. That way I didn't have to remember anything!

@ - It's really none of their business. You're doing this for you and not for the approval of others, of course. Folks will always have something to say about everything and everybody. Too much information is just a license for these folks to become surgeons, specialists, and gurus overnight. My response is simple - changing my eating habits - eating less but more of what counts -veggies and Proteins - by any means necessary!!!!! I say, keep 'em guessing, you don't owe them any explanation. They will figure it out as you continue to lose weight.... :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
