What is Your Goal Weight at 5'5

Recommended Posts

@@brightlife0305 It gave me a giggle to read your post. My goal of 148 is from when I was 18 then again when I was 24 and was in the best shape of my life. Realistic...? I hope so. As I'm finally in ONEderland now, everyday is such a gift.

(This could be a duplicate response.)

I'm 5'5", and my goal is 150.

I am now 155. :)

Did I say ... :)?

My profile says 145 but I'm actually not sure where I will end up. I want to get involved in bodybuilding so I'm not sure what that will look like. It might be 135. it could be closer to 150 or 155. I am looking for reduction of bodyfat and an increase in muscle mass, not a specific number. But I think having some number in mind is a good thing because it helps us set goals to work for.

Good luck!

I am 5'5" and my surgeon's goal is 150, but in my dream world I would end up between 135-140. It seems crazy, given that I was 13 years old the last time I was in the 150's!

I'm 5 5 1/2 and 52. My surgeon set a goal of 138. I think I'd be happy there. I'm just starting to feel good at where I am (154). So I bet I'd really feel good if I got to that goal. 16 more pounds...I can do it.

I'm 5'6", so I set my original goal at 154, which is exactly 1 lb into the "normal" BMI range. When I got there, I decided that I never wanted to be "overweight" again, so I gave myself a 5-pound buffer goal of 149. Then, when I got to 150, I decided that I never wanted to go over 150 again, so I set my final stretch goal at 145. Which was cool, because I had seen a chart that calculated the "ideal weight" for a man of my height in his 50's, to be 148 lbs. But THEN I heard about another "ideal-weight-rule-of-thumb" calculation used by doctors, that gives you 106 lbs for your first 5 feet, plus 6 lbs for each additional inch. So at 5'6", THAT number would be 142 lbs. And you know what? Exactly mid-way between 142 and 148 is 145 lbs. So I'm going for that! (Can you tell I'm a data analyst?) My wife thinks I'm obsessed. Yep, she's right. But what's wrong with obsessing a little over such a positive thing? :o  B)
Cheers all, and good luck getting to your goals, whatever they may be!!!

I looked at the table and it says 99-133 (5'3" 29 years old). I honestly can't picture myself that small. I think I'll see where I can go and not let a number scare me. That being said I always thought 150 was reasonable.

I'm 5'6 (30yr, F) and while I was probably that small in high school (maybe jr high :) ) I have an athletic build (swim, tennis, volleyball are my faves). also havent had kids yet. My surgeon said he could see 160 for me. I was hoping for more of 140 so if I split the difference and get to 150, I'll be thrilled. (not yet in ONEderland but hopeful it will happen near my 1 mo follow-up).

I am 5'5 and a half to be exact, I'm 36 years old, I'm at a starting weight of 229 lbs. My surgeon says my ideal weight is 135lbs but my goal weight is 150lbs. Which I'm very happy with because I would like to keep a little bit of meat on me, lol! I was always very thin as a teenager and everybody had always said I looked better when I started putting a little weight on. But I think with our height if you land anywhere between 130 and 150 you will be very happy. ???? I get sleeved on Tuesday so really looking forward to any progress! Oh and did I mention shopping, yes shopping!!! Lol

I'm 5-5.5, getting sleeved in June. Just saw the surgeon last week and he said 150. Last time I was 150 I went to Cancun, wore a bikini and came back pregnant...lol!!! That was the bottom of the yo-yo, and here I am back at the top, AGAIN! Can't wait to stop playing this game and stay fit and healthy, FOR LIFE!

I'm 5'5" and had RNY in late 2010. I started at 252 lbs. and wanted to lose 100 lbs. I hadn't achieved that until 2014. Up until then, I stayed around 173 lbs. I'm not sure how I lost more weight, I wasn't trying. Now I'm thinking I'd like to get down to 140.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
