Slight taste of blood

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I started puréed today and I attempted to eat some scrambled egg. Everything seems ok except for the fact that I have a slight blood/metallic taste in my mouth. I don't see any visual evidence of blood in my saliva (on a white napkin). I am struggling with reflux. Has this happened to anyone else? I have a drs appt tomorrow so I will bring it up if it is still an issue. Thx

I did want to mention that I DO NOT have dark stool. I do have a sore throat, burning runny nose and my eyes and ears feel irritated. So I do feel this a reflux issue. I just wanted to know if anyone else has gone thru this. The reflux is even irritating my gums. My teeth also feel very strange.

Talk to your doc but I had weird metallic tastes in my mouth for the first couple of months. Also struggled with reflux getting worse before it got better. It did get better though I still take Omeprazone 2x day.

I had that weird metallic taste in my mouth too, it was worse in the mornings and after a nap, went away after about one month. Yuck.

The metallic taste is from your body going into ketosis. I had it too. You have to focus on getting Protein and that's your main goal everyday, Protein, protein... When your body goes into ketosis, it starts "living off the land" because you're not eating bad carbs anymore. Your body is using stored fat instead of bad carbs and that's where the weight loss kicks in. This is the basis of the Atkins Diet. I did Atkins many years ago and it worked wonderfully. I would weigh, go to bed, get up and lost three pounds sleeping!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
