I guess it's have to say I'm one of the lucky ones, as I've not experienced and of the negative effects I've seen such as nausea, vomiting, gas pains, cold chills, etc... I'm following my Dr's plans to a T and it's been smooth sailing for me, and I'm 4 days post op and starting on regular liquids today. Was able to have 2 Protein Shakes and a nonfat Greek yogurt today, and thankfully, no issues...

Good Luck Everyone that is experiencing issues, I hope it gets better for you all.

You are lucky! I have followed the plan 100% also but most of my issues were before fluids, or stage 1 diet started. My nausea & gas pain was so bad at the hospital that they thought I was having a heart attack & did an EKG & blood work the first night. I walked a lot, I didn't overly use my pain pump because I knew the pain wasn't from my incisions, but the gas. I am doing everything by the book. I followed the two week liver shrinking diet and lost 16lbs. My surgeon said everything went very smooth. I don't know why I had so much pain & discomfort but it definitely wasn't anything I did & I wouldn't wish it on anybody! I know this is all temporary & it will get better but wow those first few days were rough!

I hope things get better for you sweetie

Quick question. I am 5 days post op and yesterday was a great day. No real pain just soreness at large incision site. Today tho i am in severe pain to the right and lower than my large incision which is on my right side. I had gotten off my prescription meds and on regular Tylenol but now i can barely move. Normal or should i be concerned?

Day 4 post op. Feeling pretty darn good. Had a popsicle and a glass of Water and felt stuffed! Getting tired of the Protein waters so ill need to mix it up a bit. Energy levels are back up. Id say around 75 percent. I want to go back to work but also know that my body needs rest too. The amazing part of this thus far is i now have shin bones visible and my feet dont hurt. :)

are you up moving around much? Sounds like a gas bubble...which i dealt with in day 2 post op. All up and down my right side..was going to go to ER but just kept moving and taking deep breaths through my nose and exhale out the mouth.

Thank you I am feeling a lot better with the gas pain! I am having another problem. The last two nights around 3 am I work up with a splitting headache both nights. My surgeon said it sounds like I'm not getting enough fluids. I am tracking everything today. Also yesterday I walked a few times and felt pretty good but today I am light headed. I feel good today other then being light headed. Sorry for too much info but I started my menstrual cycle the day of surgery ( horrible I know!) and I wonder if that is part of the problem with being light headed? If anybody has insight I appreciate it!?

I think it is natural to feel nervous, but don't let it overwhelm you! I don't mean to pry or push my views at all but my faith & prayers really got me through the nerves. I went into the OR pretty calm, and I am a worrier lol! You are almost there & best of luck to you! Please give an update when you feel well enough.

@@NewgirlfromMd It's normal. I started my period the day after my surgery and was feeling extra sluggish. Light headed and no energy. I'm 4 days post op & finally feeling a Lil better. Hope you feel better soon

Thank you Marissa! It's such an unpleasant situation when you just want to recover from surgery & Mother Nature says nope! That's too easy! Lol! I'm sorry you share this experience, but thanks for the reassurance.

Tomorrow is the day! I am looking forward to starting this journey! This site has provided a lot of info for me. Thank you to everyone for sharing. I have been out of town for business the last couple days and have not stuck to the pre op diet 100%. I have only ate lean meat and veggies. I am proud of myself for staying away from fried foods, carbs, and sweets. Even though I have not been perfect, I am making better choices. I have found that getting in my H2O helps a LOT with staying full!

I think I had hit my '3 week stall' a bit early... Last week I was stuck at 37-38 pounds loss. Today the scales says I lost over 2 pounds from the day before. So glad to have had the sleeve. My energy level is even higher than before surgery. My clothes are very noticeably loose on me and my belt needs new holes punched in it or I need to buy a new one. My only set back was coming down with strep throat 1 week post op. Just taking things one day at a time. Today I get to start ground meat.... YAY... something not pureed or liquid.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
