I haven't been on here for months and that was probably a mistake.

So... eating is not "fun" any more. I can't lay around and just gorge on Snacks. Or can I? Turns out I can! If I eat my current Snacks of choice: Wheat Thins, popcorn or chocolate covered peanuts. I can eat an entire box of Wheat Thins in a matter of minutes.

If I stick to the rules, good Protein first, then green veggies, then good carbs... I can't eat more than a few bites of good Protein. However, I don't want good protein. I want to eat something I can mindlessly shove in my face. I never thought we could really gain much weight, but I have put on 10 lbs over the past 3 months.

AM: Premier Protein shake / 8 oz coffee / Water

LUNCH: cheese stick / wheat thins

PM: Protein with family dinner

SNEAK/SNACK: chocolate covered peanuts or tortilla chips with melted cheese or small dish of ice cream

I walk (brisk) 30 min / day at a minimum. I am seeing an eating disorder specialist.

Anyone else struggling???

@@TealSister I'm right there with you. I have put on my first 4 lbs and I am terrified. Now is when the hard work kicks in.

Yes!!! I am struggling a great deal. I am a complete failure. I have gained back 40 of the 78 lbs. I lost. What makes the matter even worse is that this is my second weight loss surgery. I had Lapband in 2007. I was a failure with that. I had revision to the sleeve surgery in March 2015. The weight loss was slow and I never reached my goal with either. I need to see someone who specializes in food addiction, but am having a hard time finding someone. To be honest with you, I do not know what to do right now and am highly depressed.

I hit my goal 5 months ago but I know that I have gained and lost the same 5 pounds about 10 times so far. Every time I see that 5 pounds come back, I get scared and nervous. I know that I still retain some of my bad habits that I started with prior to surgery. Like not exercising a little every day or at all. Also, I still eat crappy food. I understand to be a little happy, I need to eat what I like but when it's every day and I'm still eating sugar and fatty foods, that's where I need to improve. I've thought about this long and hard and I almost feel like because I had surgery, I almost gave myself a free pass to eat horrible and not exercise. I think it was said in a comment above; now the hard work comes into play. I know everyone struggling is never alone. We all have been on this journey and there will be ups and downs but how we handle these hurdles is what will determine if we succeed or not. Remember; if you fall off the wagon...get back on. If you see the scale creep up, think what I am doing wrong. What can I improve...what am I doing that is good. Be super honest with yourself. Another thing is that we are human and will make mistakes along the way. Try not to be down on yourself. Just pick yourself up and go again. Yes, I'm totally trying to take my own advice on the exercise front...man I wish they had a mind treatment that would cure me not liking exercise. Keep up all the good work everyone and hang in there!

We've got this. Right? We didn't go through the he** of the pre-op diet and surgery recovery to gain a ton of weight back. We did it to get our lives back. Thank you for responding to me and sharing your stories and support. I need this. <3

Hi March Sleevers, How are you doing? I am down 85 lbs.. Happy as a clam. Best thing I ever did.

I have to admit- shopping is hard just because i don't know where the right size in the normal stores. For so many years- I had to shop in the large lady sections or stores.. It is an adjustment. QUestion for you- How did you come up with your goal weight? My Doctor gave me a goal of 80 lbs. I wanted to lose at least 100- if not 120... I just do not want to have my expectation to high. So it is a question of when I hit my re-set point.. Any thoughts on this subject for those that are 6 or more months post surgery?

Almost 2 years postop. Surgery date 3/5/2015. Just sneezed and felt something pop on left side of my abdomen. No pain but, of course, I automatically thought I popped my new stomach... What are the chances of that happening? Am I being crazy?

I would think you'd get very sick and have a lot of pain. If you start to feel "not right" - head to ER. I really don't think it's possible to pop your stomach though.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
