What can't be? Can you puree shredded cheese with refried beans?

Recommended Posts

What can't be pureed? I was told to keep all meals less than 10g sugar and less than 10g fat.

But what can we not puree? Can a soft roast and potatoes be pureed?

Can we puree lettuce and Tomato along with a Mexican type salad concoction?

Does salsa have to be pureed or can we have it non pureed?

There is no set in stone rules. They are different from each Bariatric center.

That being said:

Lettuce is very hard on the healing stomach and has no nutritional value

Mashed potatoes are on the pureed list so making your own should be fine

Tomato skins and onion bits might be hard on the pouch also---I would work on keeping it simple.

It is very different doctor to doctor! I'm on purées, but that includes only protein--no carbs. Not even veggies yet. One of the recommendations from my NUT is refried Beans and cheese... Which is hardly low-fat.

I eat a ton of refried Beans and cheese: 1/4c vegetarian refried Beans plus 2T reduced-fat mexican cheese equals 3g of fat and 7g of Protein. I don't puree them, just heat them up in the microwave and stir the melted cheese into the beans. The beans are soft enough that they break down easily with chewing and I haven't had a problem from not-pureeing.

I also make chicken taco meat and puree it with a 50/50 mix of taco meat and salsa. 1/4c of the taco meat plus 2T reduced-fat mexican cheese equals 2g of fat and 14g of Protein. I personally puree the salsa because the kind I use includes onions and I want them to be as tiny as possible in order to go down easily.

I was encouraged to track sodium as well; I just checked the can, it's 540g of Sodium per serving. I'm 4 months post surgery, and refried Beans were one of the first things I ate as soon as pureed food was allowed!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
