And my journey begins....

Recommended Posts

I went for the seminar with my surgeon of choice this week and left with my first appointment on Feb. 5th. The amazing thing is I went in 100% sure that this is what I wanted and left 200% sure. I think mostly because I love the surgeon I've chosen and know she will be a good fit for my personality and needs. I've also made an appointment for the same day with my PCP for medical clearance. I'm so excited but I'm also finding that this is very emotional for me. I finally feel like I have hope to get healthy and to live my life. I was turned away by several doctors when I asked for help and was just told to stop eating so much so I was at my end when I started researching surgery as an option. Does anyone else find themselves being emotional like this or is it just me? I'd love to hear your stories! Sure would help me to stop feeling like a big mushball!

I feel the same way! I've just begun my process as well. Had my first appointment with the surgeon on Jan. 20th. I have a 90 day process to complete for insurance. I'm beyond excited, I feel like this is going to change my life for sure! It's hard to share my excitement and emotions with friends and family because they don't understand.

When do you plan to have surgery...we may be close. It would be nice to follow each other, I'm having a hard time finding people just starting out on here ????

I am very emotional, but then again I was the one percent that has trouble. I am not sorry i had

the surgery, my weight is falling off. I look like I am melting... If you are healthy then you

shouldn't have any trouble. I still get very hungry but two bites of something and i am about to

bust. I am 60 years old and have been overweight all of my life. getting healthy is my gift to

myself. Those shakes are disgusting, i usually put ice in my blender with my Protein Drink, an

80 calorie Dannon Light and Lively Greek yogurt and 1 cup of 50% less sugar orange juice. It is so good, that is what i have at night and in the morning. I try to eat at lunch but because of my

throat lunch doesn't go over very well. Don't give up, do what you are suppose to and you will losethe weight.

I'm told my insurance is one of the easiest to deal with, no waiting period or diet. I'm hoping to have the surgery in March or April at the latest. I will be the type to try and cram all my testing into a couple of days if possible just to get done. I have a 43 BMI all I met the criteria. Just hoping for a seamless approval. Good luck to both of you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
