4mo short of 2yrs post-op

Recommended Posts

I need your feed back!!! First yr was absolutely great. Only problem is from that the last 6 mo I haven't gotten so lazy and slowly falling into some old bad habits. I went from 272lbs to 179 now back up to 187. I plateau for about 4-5mo which got me depressed, I started eating bad n it all went down hill. I'm starting to feel like I am somehow unconsciously sabotaging myself.

I was so active just a couple months ago, mentally not sure if this is a stage or what. The only things I haven't gone back to is soda, beef and pork. I'm afraid I have stretched my stomach some.

Has anyone been able to train their stomach back to only being able to eat smaller portions.

I'm stuck your help is soooooooooooooo appreciated.

Thanks

One of the things I'm doing to train myself to eat less, is to count how many bites of food I need to feel full. It will vary depending on the food, but in general, 9 to 10 teaspoon size bites will fill me up.

Now that I know that, I try to stop after 7 or 8 bites. It's sometimes difficult to not take that 9th bite when I still have food on my plate. But it's getting easier.

@@AddryW, i imagine it takes quite a bit to get your stomach "stretched" my nutritionist says go back to your phases if you feel like you've gone off track like go back to Bariatric liquids for a bit and slowly ease yourself into the solids again and you should be fine. Most important don't get discouraged when your body stops losing for a bit because if you're sticking to the plan you'll start losing again. Good luck girl

Good for you for getting yourself back in the game before you've strayed too far! I find that when I make Protein and veggies the main (or only) component of a meal I get full sooner than when I eat more carbs. Just doing that may help you feel that restriction again. Not everyone likes to track, but I find it so useful. I have to be conscious about every bite and choice, and I can also notice trends - for example when I eat a higher carb meal I get hungry sooner and end up eating more calories overall that day. It's important to find foods that you enjoy and also work with your plan. For me salmon and rotisserie chicken are fixtures that I love. You can find things that work for you that don't feel like a diet.

Google "5-day pouch".

Good luck.

I sucked it up and joined a gym. I'm scared of gaining the weight back. This week my pants were really tight... and I felt so depressed... I couldn't understand why they were so tight... I jumped to the worst possible conclusion... I had already gained back all that weight...nope... I didn't look and I had grabbed my husbands pants which are a size 32... and while they were tight I could still fit into them. I didn't know they were his until I got home from work and he said, why are you wearing my pants... then it was followed with OMG those are my pants and you can wear them.

Def. google the 5 day pouch.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
