Got notified that I have insurance approval today. Now to feel out work and see when would be a good time span to be gone. I am still not wanting to share with my coworkers what I am having done, just don't want their input and some will feel I am taking the easy way. We all know that this is just a tool not a "easy cure".

I'm hoping that I have a surgery date no later than April. I've knocked out just about all of me pre-op appointments. The only thing left I have is the sleep Study & The Psych evaluation . . . . If needed. I wish everyone the best. Patience is key and now news is good news!

Tiny update from me. I have EVERYTHING done needed by my doctor's office!!!!!

( 6 month restricted diet, ultrasounds, labs, sleep test, psych consult and approval, nut consult and approval, support group meetings, nutrition classes, surgery classes, etc.)

..... so......my final check-in appt. is on Feb 11th!

Hopefully then they will submit to insurance for approval and THEN I'LL FINALLY GET MY DATE!!!! **Happy Dance**

Thanks for the feedback from those who gave it about bypass vs. the sleeve. I see the good in each surgery and I've decided at this point, I'm going to talk to them at my last check-in. I feel like I find conflicting facts everywhere. So, that's my plan!

I understand the hesitation of sharing with others about my surgery plan. My co-workers were aware I was planning on surgery, but until I had my surgery date I didn't go into detail with them. I researched the procedure and the major lifestyle changes that are ahead of me in advance so I was able to explain the process focusing on the process and not the obvious outcome.

Apparently I had underestimated everyone, they want me to feel better, had questions, and some even looked up Protein smoothie recipes for me. Also, by sharing what I've learned, I saved my co-worker from the 800+ calorie doughnut she was craving!! :)

Hi, new here. I have done 6 months of doctors, nutritionist and support group visits. Had to go on BP meds, did sleep test-have apnea, blood work up-Vit D deficient, borderline high glucose and had gastric test-small problems. My PCP is okaying my surgery but making me go to a gastro guy first. My last visit to my bariatric doctor is Monday, the gastro on Thursday. Should get this last bit of paperwork signed off for next week to be sent to the insurance company. I am hoping for the first week in March. This journey has opened my eyes to a the litany of health problems I didn't even realize I had. I'm thankful for deciding to do this.

I'm hoping June! I've completed two doctor supervised weight loss apps. With my last appt. being in May. My psych evaluation is set for Feb 17, & my f/u appt. is March 2nd. I still need to complete one group session. I'm scheduled for a sleep study tomorrow night, and we're currently in the middle of a winter storm. I'm hoping it will get better by morning! I live 35 miles south of Des Moines, & it's going to be a long drive in tomorrow!

@tlemieux220 Are you on the 6 month weight ins? I started in Oct, had 6 months but my insurance changed to 3 months.

No I was suppose to have 4 months then in Jan it went to 3 months. I am now just waiting on Aetna to approve and my PCP clearance letter and one class on Feb 9th.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
