Discouraged and regreting

Recommended Posts

I'm a little a month and I'm actually getting depressed, discouraged and flat out regretting getting the surgery. I have lost 16lb since my surgery and that happened in the first 2 weeks, I went for my 2 week check up and I was 321.5. I got on the scale this week and I had GAINED 1.7lbs!! Now I haven't done things to the "T" but it's no where near to me gaining weight(mainly not able to get all my Protein I get close). I log my food and I know I get less than 500 calories a day. So what the heck??!! I have been bloated and constipated and that makes me angry. I just don't know. I know this is a tool but I feel like it's not working for me right now. I started working out but had to hold off till my open wound was healed. So now I can't eat much at all, can't do Protein shakes cause it makes my nauseated so I'm eating meat cheese and eggs and can't take a crap!! I'm so annoyed pissed off depressed and I really want to eat something really bad but can't cause I wont go down so yeah I got problems right now!!

Thank you ladies!! I'm trying I go to my 6 week appointment on Thursday and I talk to the doctor and the dietician. So hopefully they can help me. I'm still going to work out and try like hell to get 60 grams of Protein, but this whole Constipation thing isn't fun at all. Since I can't/wont allow my self to go bake a Hershey's chocolate cake I will go work out lol to stop felling sad

The Constipation deal is a numbers killer. Bowel management lol - you will figure out what works for you and what doesn't but the VSG DOES work! Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing!!

Milk of magnesia. It's awesome.

I second Super Dave's suggestion! Milk of Magnesia worked within 20 minutes for me! Make sure you get it flavored because the original one has a disgusting after taste!

About the stall...

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

In addition to the dreaded 3 week stall you may have pin pointed why the scale is showing a weight gain; you're bloated and constipated. There are many solutions to that; colace stool softener, milk of magnesia, Miralax, benefiber, prune juice, a tsp of epsom salt in organic grapefruit juice to name just a few.

Since you can't exercise, walk. Walk at least 30 minutes every day and drink you water/fluids. It will all get the plumbing moving.

Most importantly stay off the scale. It will make you insane. Take your measurements instead. and every month take them again. Even when you are stalling if you are on program, the measurements will change when the scale doesn't.

The first few weeks I was backed up as well. I used Miralax in some crystal light. Once I was on solid food and got Fiber, fruits and veggies in my diet I haven't had that problem since.

Take it easy if you have an open wound. Over doing it now isn't going to do you any good. This is a marathon not a sprint.

Good luck-

Lorie

If you look at it this way, you lost 16 lbs in a month. Thats a HUGE win in the world of weight loss. Average is 1-2 lbs a week or 4-8 a month.. Do the Protein, Water and walk...Your body will start to burn it off.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
