February 5, and I just started my Optifast. Who else is doing Optifast and how is it going?

Has anyone's surgeon asked them to do a milk diet pre surgery? My surgeon wants me to do this for two weeks and this may seem like a very silly question at first but what does in include? Obviously milk but in what quantities and can it be flavoured or added to tea and coffee like a latte? Whole milk or skimmed? Cows milk or other milks ok? I'm seeing my surgeon again in early Feb to discuss but I'm horribly impatient due to all the excitement and want to know!

Ahmygaaad it's really happening! We're getting our lives back peeps!

I feel like I'm starving and sick, and it's not head hunger, I know the difference. Been dizzy and feeling like I'm going to blackout and haven't started the all shakes week yet. And it's not getting better. I'm not sure what to do.

Sorry to hear that GAWildKat. I hope it gets better. May need to call doctors office. I don't think they want you to be blacking out.

It does seem a little unrealistic to ask people who are willing to undergo bypass to try to starve themselves without surgery. If we possessed that kind of control over our food intake would we need this surgery? I understand the need for a day or two before surgery, but 2 weeks??

I picked up my stuff from BB&B yesterday and went to The Vitamin Store and got 3 different flavors of Isopure...man, those things are pricey! Three came to $13.00 and some change. Only planning on using them a few weeks postop, but still. Going to look around and see if they are any cheaper online.

Kimzie, that is awesome... I know I am so excited. My pre op is the 26th. I start my pre op diet on the 3rd of feb. Mine is 3 Protein Shakes and then a diet frozen meal like lean cuisine or something and a cup of veggies/salad per day. Definitely not as bad as some people have to do. Do you have a pre op diet? I know you are far away from me, but still nice to have someone on the same day to share with :-)

@ Juanita Hicks my surgery is scheduled for February 24th. I'm in Wauwatosa, WI. I too am having Bypass. Do have to do any pre surgery diet? Oh @ starbuckscoffeegal I see you are having surgery 1 day after me. I will be thinking of you as I leave the hospital. Good Luck to everyone that has received their surgery date.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
