Ordered a new precise scale. Tried it out and showed me 7 pounds higher than my normal scale. Man I thought I was a slow loser before and now I'm even more frustrated and sad. I feel like I've been stalled forever and now I actually weigh more than what I thought. Feeling like a failure

That sucks. I would throw the new scale out and keep the old one. Who's to say your new scale is right.

Well I would love to but the old one is not digital and the new one is digital and precise. Who can argue with it. Guess it makes sense now why I always weighed more at the doctors. All I want is to get under 200!!! Now I'm further away and am frustrated :(

Don't get frustrated, everyone has stalls or gains. If you follow the diet, it will start up again. Do not weigh yourself everyday, only once a week. That's what my nutrionist said to me. Give yourself a break, okay?

Easier said than done Maggie0210. Thanks for the nice comment. I really am hard on myself. I just worry its gonna be like before. Start a diet, lose some weight, slack off and end up back at the weight and then some. It's hard for me.because I have no idea how I'm doing. I compare myself to people on here and feel like I'm not losing like I should.

If the new scale shows you 7lbs higher now, then it would have shown you at a higher weight when you started, so you really have lost the same amount.

I'm craving that 200 lb mark too but I'm happy with my band allowing me privilege to lose with comfort and predictable results. You didn't put your weight on over a few days, weeks or months. The slow and steady gives your skin and muscles the best chance to recover. I've been over 200 lbs for over 5 years. The fact that I've successfully come down 30 lbs since surgery is a freskish event in itself. Give yourself a break! Feel this experience fully and know you can be all you are!

More Protein & watrr or get ptotrin powder but fruity flavor nectar brand msxes well & no gtit plus i add 1pk of crystsl light into it also

the scale really doesn't matter as long as you keep using the same one. i am really neurotic about my weight. when i go to the doctor, I always wear the same clothes, etc. I have my appointments at the same time and don't eat before I go. It is all pretty silly. As long as i follow my meal plan and drink my Water, I know I am on the right road.

Jessb418- I'm the same way! I'm happy when the scale goes down and really grumpy when it doesn't move! I weight self everyday. And the weight will set the mood. This isn't healthy. ???? We have to remember this experience is a journey.

I had such fears initially that I would be the failure who didn't lose weight and gained more! I read about the average weight loss, and worried the average wouldn't get me to my goal.

I'm in my third month post op, and while I still have irrational fears, I'm coming to terms with this process.

My sister is one year post, met her goal weight and struggles with maintaining. In other words, this our lives now.

Thin people also watch their weight. I've been paying attention to my "normal to thin friends' eating habits. They are pretty disciplined with an occasional treat. They workout, and occasionally get upset with a weight gain.

We got this! We're ok! And we will reach our goals! Hang in there. The scale is just a tool to help you gage your eating.

That is exactly what I do. I weigh myself numerous times a day and do measurements and depending how it comes out sets my mood. I really need to have my husband hide it. Sounds pathetic but I obviously have problems with self control. I know I just need to focus on how I feel and not the numbers. I'm just so scared of failing.

After having our surgery, I believe we all become so anxious about how fast we can get our weight off and when it doesn't come off fast enough or if the scale is higher or says we didn't lose any weight it can really affect us. It isn't healthy to weight ourselves multiple times a day or even everyday, per my doctor. I'm sure your doing the best you can and I find that we can be too hard on ourselves after gastric surgery. I remember when I couldn't wait to get under the 200 lb mark. With patience and endurance which for some people doesn't come easy, before I knew it I rejoiced greatly when the scale read 199. I promise you you'll get there. I hit my 1 yr anniversary Dec 2nd, starting weight 262, but surgery day I was 242 because I lost 20 lbs 4 mths before my surgery. I put up a handwritten weight loss chart in my bathroom and recorded my weight once a week for the first 10 mths. a by the way this is without exercising because I'm disabled. When my weight slowed down I weighted myself every other week. I am elated to say I stepped on the scale today and 144 showed up. I had to step on it 2 more times to make sure it wasn't broken, because I had been stuck at between 152 - 156 for 2 mths because I have been slacking on my Protein intake and eating things I shouldn't have been ( Pasta, rice, bread). So it was totally my fault which was understandable, but I went back to basic, which is my Protein Shakes and not eating those do-not-eat anymore weight gainer foods. Stick to your beginning program and tell your doctor your concerns, your probably doing better than you think. I hope you reach your goal soon, and my doctor said slow and steady keeps the weight off. Good luck ☺

Wow donnamaria65 that is excellent. Congratulations to you. I am glad u said that about taking it back to basics. That is exactly what I need and am going to do. That way I'm making sure I eat for nutrition and Protein not satisfaction or taste. I am going to out the scale away and only weigh myself every so often. It's becoming too much for me to do everyday and is taking a toll on my outlook on my weight.

I agree. I was just like you at first. I had to start weighing once a week and writing it on my calendar. It always reads some kind of loss this way and I am happy. When I look back at the calendar it shows how far you have come. Its hard to appreciate the daily .3 loss but a weeks 4 pounds is nice :)

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
