Tomorrow 12/22/2014 is my surgery date....but...

So tomorrow is my surgery date...the only problem is my insurance still hasn't gotten back to me with an approval or denial. We have been harassing anthem blue cross for almost three weeks and every time it's the same thing "it's being looked at" i need an answer by 11 am tomorrow or it's gonna get canceled.

Anyone else ever had this last minute rush ?

Your surgeon's insurance coordinator has dropped the ball, and they probably should not have set your date and put you through the pre-op liquid diet without solid approval. Call your insurance first thing in the morning and insist on speaking to a supervisor and ask them to set up a case manager nurse for you as well, so that you have only one person that you need to reach instead of playing phone tag. Delay is not denial, and surgeons don't make any money by cancelling scheduled surgeries. I hope this can be worked out for you. The waiting is the hardest part of this process. Once you actually have the surgery you will be so relieved.

My hospital has a weird policy they don't submit the precert until a date has been selected...they sent everything in on the 4th of December and anthem just has been giving us both the run around....wrong nurses dates and on Thursday we was both told that it was being escalated to a medical director because my nurse didn't have enough experience in my surgery to make a decision...they told me it was gonna take 24 hours Friday came and went with no call...so I'm hoping when I call at 8 am tomorrow i will have some kinda answer. If not I'm not gonna get off the phone until I do
