When did you try Steak again?

Recommended Posts

I too had it about 1 month out and haven't had any problems. The only foods that upset my stomach are carbs and deep fried things. I guess we all have to listen to our bodies on this!

I had steak at 11 weeks... Medium rare, very tender and delicious. Ate the filet part of the tbone. No problem. Had some steak again today that was marinated and crazy tender. My stomach loved it.

I was a huge steak fan. I am 14 weeks out. I've had ground beef and it was a bad experience. I'll probably will never eat beef again. More and more foods I've tried have gone on my NO list.

After two weeks, my surgeon pretty much left it up to me to decide what I could and couldn't tolerate and when. In my opinion, steak goes down much easier than chicken or pork. Probably because the higher fat content makes it softer. I do fine with it unless I get distracted and don't chew enough. Then it can get stuck just like other meats and may have to come back up before anything else can use the pipe. And you you can grease the skids with apple sauce or other low-carb sauces. Fat and calories don't really matter much at this stage because you'll be taking in less than 100 a day anyway. But keep those calories to Protein as much as possible. And as a steak lover you'll be happy to hear that my on-the-fly meal is a bag of Jerky. A 3-oz bag is a meal. Gotta watch the sodium, though. Enjoy the ride!

Somewhere around 3 months or so. No problems.

Funny how different foods are tolerated by different people. I can eat almost anything in small small portions, even bread! But for some reason steak and roast beef are not my friend. Pork, no worries, chicken, a breeze, fish goes down smoothly. But not beef! I can tolerate hamburger, but no other cut of beef is acceptable. I am 6 months out so maybe in a few months I will try steak again.

I have tried steak and or beef several times throughout my 2 years. and it hates me. It just does.....Only once was I able to eat a couple of bites and then the next time I tried it it was back to being stuck in my throat feeling....

Did I mention it just hates me! :)

Well, one thing good about beef steak not liking me.... I honestly don't miss it. It feels like a lump of coal in my tummy so why would I want that? So many other tasty things I can enjoy..... Like tuna steak! Ha!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
