Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I am a huge brat.

So yesterday I get this check from the US dept of Treasury. Now I remember filing some extra paperwork for 2006 last Nov because they had sent me something in the mail saying I had missed something. So I am expecting some like $50 check or something. I open it up, $703!!!!!! I almost pooped myself. So Stacy will be getting a bit of new biking gear today.

BG this came to mind when I read about your windfall...

A little spending money.

Money to burn.

Money that you did not necessarily earn.

Rainy days seem to wind up sunny,

Long as you got a little spending money.

Great recap of one riders Houston MS150

Masiguy

My home town of Hammond will be hosting a MS150 in October. I plan on making the ride. Stef how was your ride? Are you ready to do it again?

BP, hey! I've done two rides the last two weeks...Tour Dallas and The Lancaster Country Ride. All I can say is that I loved them both and I will be doing both again next year! Especially since Lancaster and all the hills kicked my ass. That will NOT happen again. (I know, I'm repeating myself...but I'm still pissed about it!)

I can't wait for the MS150! It is in less than three weeks! WOO-HOO! I'm going to my LBS today to pick up my Bicycles Inc. Team jersey...can't wait to see what they look like.

I'm trying to find another ride to do between now and then...maybe two. There are so many to choose from! I'm hooked.

P.S. What a great blog on the Austin MS150...now I REALLY can't wait!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BG and J - Cock Blocks really DO taste good? What all flavors have you tried and are there any to stay away from? As I said, I'm going to my LBS today and I think I will pick some up and try them during training to see if they will be good for the HHH. Us bandsters need COMPACT endurance nutrition. Fueling is a real pain in the ass for me on endurance rides.
Okay, so you two concur on the orange, strawberry and black cherry. Cherry is my favorite flavor, so I will get more of that. Thanks, chicas! (I gave y'all "reputation" for this info! I still can't believe I'm a TWO! LOL) I've never tried the bars, either...so maybe I'll pick up a couple to try if the labels check out.
I'm outta here...I can't spend all day on the comp with so much to do today! Love y'all!
JC, my man! Thanks for the comments earlier about my profile! I'm becoming such a photo whore...it's shameful! LOL
I've just helped make 100 fortune Cookies. Hand made fortune cookies are a pain in the ass. Of course we had to make a few naughty ones too.
J: LOL I'll bet you did! I'm feeling better as of yesterday. I amped up my meals a little, and was given permission to have "pudding" consistancy instead of "applesauce". It helped, so I spared my keyboard, the wallpaper, my shoes...
There's a ride tonight. I can't go and it's beautiful out. Guess I'll go walking.
Hi, I was banded 4-14-08, new bandster, but as soon as I heal up I will be hitting the spinning/cycling classes at my gym. I lost about 20lbs before surgery from the class alone. I cannot wait to see how much I lose with my new tool. I can't wait to hit the cycling class and then buy me a bike this summer. Thanks, I like this thread.
Hi Trell,
Welcome. Don't let the insanity scare you off, we really are a nice bunch of people. We REALLY like cycling.
Some of the humor gets naughty or gross at times, but please hang out and jump in.
Where I work out doesn't have spinning. I know next fall when the biking season ends in Ohio I'll join a gym that does have spinning. Everyone says it can really transform your body.
Congrats on the band. Turler, also known as C, is on here and was just banded on the 10th.
Welcome!
      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.
        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.
        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!
        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.
        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.
        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
