D-

I was on a field trip with my kid today. We went to a park with these giant bug sculptures. Metro Parks - Central Ohio Park System- David Rogers' BIG BUGS

It was very fun but insanely hot in Ohio for October. I then did homework at a coffee shop while she went to the after school child care, because we needed a break from each other...then dinner and then she rode her bike and I ran after her!!!! Outside and in front of people. OMFG!

It's just under a mile down my street and back, but the back part is an incline. And I walked and ran...my boobs were strapped down, but my shoes sucked. I'll be buying the new ones as soon as I get paid. I'm pretty happy!!!

Zoe is staying on her bike more too. Which is good.

Oh and about the thong, it's under the giant belly. And that just feels shitty, like, "Hey you can't forget you've got a giant pendulous belly hanging here because this elastic is a constant reminder! Hahahahah." I think the quotes belong to the panties.

Stefanie42467,

Well if you're going to hang you need to shorten that right there. We have an S already, but he doen't peep up too much these days.

Welcome though. We are a bunch of nuts and there are many inside jokes, but if you are bored enough to read from the beginning or from about May you'll get the gist of many of them.

Where are you etc. We want to know when you were banded, how filled you are, when did you start cycling, which state do you call home, do you have kids, are you single, JC is sorta apparently still and is in Florida.

Welcome welcome.

Thank you for the welcome! If you don't have a "STEF", that would be fine for me.

I was banded June 8, 2007 and have had four fills for 5.1 CC's in a 10 CC Small AP band. I started cycling in July...first time on a bike in over 20 years! I'm a Texas girl, married to my HS sweetheart...I'm 40 and we met when we were 15. We have two kiddos...our daughter in college at 18 and our son in HS at 15.

I will be reading some to catch up, for sure!

Welcome Stef!

J, I don't like wearing a thong either!

I turned and burned a 32 minute 5k this afternoon took a half hour break then did my normal 4 mile/hour walk. I should have ridden my bike.

Thank you, JC! Wow, you are almost at goal! That's great!

Was it you that mentioned some running program about a couch or something? What was that again?

STEPH........WELCOME TO US!!!!!

We are weird, we are strange but we are all great friends and most of them here have even met in real life!!!

I got a .5 fill today. She said I was really tight and she was fighting to put that much in. They are very happy with my weight loss, and now I am going to change my ticker to what the doctors have as my weight.

Hi Stef,

I have a woman's guide to running book I bought years ago and need to open it now.

What kind of biking do you do? What bike do you ride? Do you ride with a group?

:o

Uh...wow. The pedaling kind? I'm so new that I don't know how to answer! LOL What different kinds of biking are there? Oh! Well, not mountain biking, if that's what you mean. (Jeez, do I feel dumb!)

I ride at River Legacy Park near my home. It has paved, shaded trails just for walking/running/biking...no car traffic to deal with. The full trail, which can be broken up into sections, is about 15 miles and I do it twice, three days a week. I ride a Schwinn hybrid bike, but I really need to bite the bullet and buy a higher end bike, because your "every day" bikes are too short for my 36" legs! It is doing well for now, though. I don't ride with a group, but would love to! I can't seem to locate one, and everyone I know is not interested in taking up cycling. Even hubby is really not interested when he is home. He works offshore, so he is a sporadic biking partner, at best.

Anyone here live in the Mid Cities/Arlington/Ft. Worth area?

P.S. Everyone...the reason I was attracted to this thread? English is my second language...Sarcasm is my first!

Stef,

There is road biking and moutain biking. There are other different kinds but those are you two main kinds.

A hybrid is a mix of the two. If you have no plans on riding on dirt look up road bikes. If you intend to ride with a group look up road bikes. If you need to get fitted for a bike go to your local bike shop (LBS). There you'll also find information on group rides.

Group rides have A, B, C, D rides or D often means "no one left behind". A are racers, 20 mph+, B's are 17-20, C's are 16-13, D's are slower 12 miles mph or less. OR something like that! lol!

There's plenty of information out there. You'll find all of us started much like you and have gotten further along toward buying or owning road bikes.

BG and JC are fans of the bike trails, like what you ride. I do them if I must, but I rather be on the road. HP and D are on the road too quite a bit. B is a poser who says he bikes but hasn't got out there much lately....

:o

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
