Gaining after revision surgery - help

Recommended Posts

Hi. I had surgery on Oct 15th to fix my slipped band. Dr unfilled me to 1 cc at surgery. Finally went for my first fill and got .5 cc. Felt nothing. since surgery I've gained 15 pounds. My mind is really taking control cause I feel like this is a last chance to eat foods I can't when the band is filled. So, I requested another fill and received another 1 cc for a total 2.5. But it's been 4 days and still no restriction and still get hungry before the 4 hour mark. I'm starting to worry there is something wrong with my band.

Everyone is different....my first fill was 4cc's, which did absolutely nothing....I actually started to gain weight between that fill and the next....2nd fill was 2 cc's for a total of 6,...that helped a little but took a third fill to get me to the Green Zone.

And yet, there are people who have never had a fill and are doing just fine.....

The weird thing is; at the original surgery in May 2013, I started out with 2 cc and lost 60 lbs. but because the band slipped i had to have surgery in oct/14 to get it fixed and start over. I'm at 2.5 with absolutely nothing happening. I was expecting it to be the same as the first time.

I am so nervous, my band slipped and am schedule to reposition it in February but am now second guessing my decision and wondering whether I should go for the sleeve instead. I am so nervous because I am unfilled for a while and gained so much weight already and if it will take me six months from surgery to reach restriction I will be so miserable...

Yes Liz, that could happen. It's been so different for me this time around. First time I reached green zone right off the bat with 2 cc's. Stayed at my perfect weight for over a year until I had a few terrible stuck episodes that caused my band to slip. My reposition surgery was beginning of October, and I am now at 4.5 cc's. No restriction, hungry after 2-3 hours. I have gained 15 lbs and I am so terrified that ill keep gaining. I'm going for another fill in January so I'm hoping that'll at least start something.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
