So tell me are still hungry after have sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I guess we are all different, but in my case, my hunger is usually in proportion to my exercise. The harder I work out, the hungrier I am...but the great thing is that hunger is satisfied so much quicker with the sleeve! No over-eating!!

I'm in a bad way...and need help. Just had surgery on the 24th and a couple days after I was fine with just Water..couldn't really eat....but after about 4 or so days I was starving...so I tried my luck on soft scrambled eggs...I could tolerate 2-3 little bits and then get a sharp pain in my stomach which caused me to stop..but I noticed the sharp pain was a big burp trying to come out..but wouldn't...I tried a bite of cottage cheese same thing....I even stuck a small piece of chick in my mouth chewed it up really good..but another burping pain....I'm not getting my Water in either.

My NUT called to see how I was doing and I told her good and she said to make sure I don't eat any foods yet as the food will cause a leak...well I immediately stopped and on Protein drinks again..only able to drink 2 Protein shakes a day...they are way too sweet and making me gag...still not getting all my water in ...today marks the 9th day and I don't feel as if I have lost anything at all...physically I am feeling fine...but mentally I am miserable....I don't know what to do.

I go back to work tomorrow..perhaps getting back to the swing of things might help...but otherwise... :(

First: did you tell your doctor about what you ate? I think he needs to check your stomach to make sure something has not glued and is preventing the stomach to heal.

Second: I'm on my 7th post op day and I am doing quite well with the liquid diet. What I do is to make a Soup with potatoes, chicken breast, onions, garlic, a little oil and salt, put it under pressure for around 30 mins and then getting the juice out, filter it with a kitchen sieve, and drink just a coffee cup each 2 minutes. I drink up to 4-5 times this near lunch and dinner, and the rest I go with Gatorade, fruit juices (always sieved), water...

But do call your doctor, you shouldn't have any pain to eat.

Take care!

Caio

I'm one month post op and by week 2 I was hungry but once I drank a Protein Shake or ate cream Soup the hunger was gone.

Well, I don't think anything is stuck, I didn't eat that much at all, maybe a bite or two...but right after, I used the restroom and it seemed to be coming right out (TMI) I know it was a burp trying come out..because as soon as I was able to get the burp out I was right as rain. I know I shouldn't have tried to eat anything..but for the most part it was mushy..I didn't eat anything that wouldn't be on my next phase..I just phased up before my time I guess. the paperwork Dr. gave to me said progress to the next phase when you think you are ready...so that's what I did.

I am back on Protein drinks and feel perfectly fine...again..not getting in the Water I should...I knew that would be my challenge since pre-op I was never a Fluid drinker...I had to force fluids down...But now I am aware of my challenge time to get off the soap box and just do it!!

I also had mine nov 24th. I can't believe ur ready to go back to work. I'm still on purée. Solids even soft sounds painful. The best thing so far had been whey Protein Powder with crystal light. The powder is taste free but does give a sherbet taste. I just think you've rushed solids and need to back up and stay on liquids and purée. I puréed vegetable Soup tonight and despite color it wasn't 1/2 bad. I also added some Protein powder.

I am 6 months out and I don't really feel hunger yet. I get an empty feeling instead. My doctor did tell me to expect to feel hungry at some point. That is why it is important to establish your healthy eating habits now and learn your limits. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
