Presurgery weight gain

Recommended Posts

I'm still going through my weigh ins, have two left. I'm worried because I'm gaining weight. Is this normal?

I suggest asking your NUT or bariatric coordinator whether or not this will make a difference in being approved. I imagine there are different insurance company rules on that.

I second BeagleLover! All insurance company's are different, you don't want to screw yourself up before its time!

I have been dealing with the same issue. My weight has fluctuated a pound or two up or down every month the last 6 months. The coordinator says not to worry about it as long as its not a drastic change. I'm still nervous though but they know what they're doing

I lost one pound between my first and second appointments I have one appointment left and I'm hoping I didn't gain more than 1-2. But I wasn't told I needed to lose anything at this point. I just needed to make changes to my diet. Which I have. I'm thinking she will want me to lose a certain number of pounds prior to surgery during the 4 week pre-op diet.

@@laurenella82, I thought that until I specifically asked if the goal of the weigh in was to lose weight. It wasn't. So, I suggest asking about it.

I've been in the approval process for the last year and a half... Lot of miscommunication between my insurance which is self funded through a local hospital/ my employer and the WL center.... Anyway, We finally got it ironed out and pre cert signed off on my surgery... In the process, I gained 27lbs. I was just told it will make surgery more difficult.

I don't think a few lbs will matter much as a gain... At least you didn't pull a stupid one like me.

I was honest with them, I have been busy eating everything I know I won't be able to, or very little of in the future.

@@Timmy2shirts, as others have said it depends on your insurance. I did not have specified weight to lose. I lost about 10lbs from my 1st weigh in and the insurance approved. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
