BCBS of Michigan. Waiving the six months?

In the information given to me by the hospital I'm having my surgery through, it said that if your BMI is over 50 (mine is 59), Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan waives the six month dieting/wait period. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm getting BCBS of Michigan anyway, but I'm really hoping this wasn't misinformation.

Thanks a bunch!

yes it was fast. had the consultation week after initial phone call. Then 2 months to surgery date. had to do 3 week pre-op diet.

Thats so exciting, I go for my next round of appointments on April 6th and 8th at Royal Oak Beaumont. Only 2 weeks after tmy intial consult appointments and tests. Hopefully I will get scheduled with the surgeon and they will submit to insurance.

I'm going thru Dr Zeni at st.mary mercy bariatric center in Livonia Mi
