Ruby - How are you doing today ..

I had a better day today. A lazy day and took time out to slurp on a White chocolate Mocha from Starbucks. I enjoyed every mouthful. I spent most of the day with my nose in a book. Took my son to the pool for his first swim of the season. He's like a Polar Bear. There's no way I was getting anywhere near the water!

No exercise for me today either. It's strange that I feel like I've abandoned my friend at the gym. My treadmill will worry about what happened to me today.

I wore a pair of open sandals today (first warmish day of spring), and I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but it seems I've lost weight in my feet. :purplebananna: They weren't as tight as they were last season. So that was a pleasant NSV.

Steph, yes you can lose "weight" in your gums, but that's not a good thing. It happens naturally as you get older, but a sudden change at a young age is not a good sign. Especially with the issue you're having. Don't forget to mention it to your dentist when you see him.

Hi all. Had a pretty good day. My tooth was better today. It didn't bother me until this evening and even then it wasn't too bad. I've kept on top of the advil. I know we should stay clear of that, but my team said that as long as I didn't over do it and always ate with it I would be alright.

Now my d key seems to be sticking. Do you know how often I use the d key? I hope this stops soon!!!!

Karri....your wedding sounds amazing. As long as you remember it forever, it doesn't matter if anyone else approves. And I would tell your nut to get buttered! You should NEVER be made to feel badly for eating healthy meals and exercising. It isn't like you are anorexic or bulemic. You are doing what needs to be done for your health. I would not worry about losing 2 pounds. You need to have a daily diet that you can live with.

Phyll...your family is beautiful. I hope you have really enjoyed them. I hope you enjoyed the cake and didn't spend the whole time feeling guilty. If you are going to splurge you need to at least enjoy the entire experience.

liquid gold is that wonderful pain elixer they sent home with me after surgery. It is probably just tylenol 3 instead of vicodan....but it does wonders for my pain.

Well...it's almost 11pm here and I had better get to bed. Have a great week all. I plan on it!!

Phyl - It looks like you have a wonderful family. You are blessed.

Ruby - One of the ladies I go camping with had this thing called Novasure done because she was having heavy periods. I'm not sure if I spelled it right. Google it. I think they remove a layer of your uterus with a laser. You will no longer have periods. You can't do it if you still want children. Two ladies I camped with for Easter had it done. They swear by it. They said they dope you up and it takes about a minute.

Hi all, I have a million things to say--what an interesting weekend here--but really, very little time this morning. I just need to rant a little and then I have to get to work.

So yesterday I told my mom that I am thinking about a TT. Her response? One word: "Vanity." That really got me going. Grrrrr. Now realize that I was afraid to tell her bout my band for several months because I didn't want any hassle from her about it. She and my RN sister decided that it was "Very dangerous." That is the same sister who is getting her band this week AND the same mother that is taking my sister to the hospital and will be holding her hand through out the whole thing. Never an acknolwedgement of my weight loss. Only "Vanity."

I gotta go. TTYL

Thanks mango, I'll definitely check it out. There are times when I can actually feel the clots loosening themselves from the lining of my insides. It's painful and then all of a sudden the pressure just subsides, and sure enough a clot exits soon after.

I had PCOS among other things going into this surgery and losing weight was supposed to help with that, as well as going on the pill. The pill has made a lot of difference because before I started taking it the pain was almost crippling and my periods were so heavy I was needing to change/clean myself every couple of hours. Getting up twice a night so as not to leave a puddle in the bed was the worst thing. Now it's more bearable and not quite so heavy, but once in a while still painful. I guess I've just gotten used to dealing with it. I'd like for it to go away, hence why I was embracing the thought of menopause. But not sure what to expect there either. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't. :purplebananna:

Good Morning Gang - Happy Monday

Phyl

What beautiful Grandkids :purplebananna: - With eating that cake & ice cream I bet you drop a pound or 2 on your next weigh in... Remember we still have to live life..

Ruby

I had periods like that (heavy heavy) had to wear 3 pad - put a baby waterproof pad and towels down at night. I never went to the doc about them - just lived with them - but thankfully - I have hit the menopause without any symptoms :biggrin2:. Ck with your Mom to see when she went thru it - that's suppose to be a good indicator.

Yes you do lose weight in your feet too - I was 10 (still am in some shoes)

but can fit 9 - 9 1/2 depending on the shoe - when I lost weight before my feet shrunk then too.

Lazy day - heck all I did was change out of my pj's into my shift and get on the computer - watch tv etc - never left the house - which is a good thing cuz I didn't spend any $$$$.

Linda

Well, I guess who we know is Mom's fav kid - I can't beleive that - All I can say is that you are a GROWN women and if you want a TT go get it - i don't care if it's for physical or vanity reasons - What the HELL is wrong with a little vanity:confused:. Why do you think I post pic's - I am a little vain (ok a lot:rolleyes2:) - Does your Mom wear make up get her hair colored - wear earrings - all vanity... If you want it get it - and screw what pple think you don't need their approval... (ok my rant over too - I dislike insenstive ppl)

Candice

I like your idea - but besides the spagh squash & quiona - I don't know of a veggie I haven't tried - but I will look for one the next time I go to the store

Ok not much to report since last night - I did cook some squash with spagh sauce a little corn & rice for my weekly lunch - need some Protein though - thought I would go get some of that chicken that's cooked and sliced and add it to it..

Step - Glad your tooth is better - at least you get to go to the dentist today to get it looked at.

Ok off to see what's on my desk - as usual will ck back in a few

Oh forgot to tell you all this - You gotta buy new slips - this morning I went to put my slip on and omg it doesn't fit - I have to pin it or it is falling down below my dress :Dancing_wub: - it's snowing down yonder big time...

I know we don't wear slips that often - so be prepared for when you do - it's not goint to fit...

If VANITY = MENTAL HEALTH then I am vain BIG TIME. Not to mention that sometimes there are actual health issues with the excess skin. For one my back is being pulled out of alignment and I am starting to get rashes. For mean vanity is very painful. Remember this is your life and you don't need their approval. We approve of you every step of the way!

I don't believe it!! I jsut got done writing a book here and just lost it all. Can't find it either. I was on yesterday, and there were two posts, get on today and there are three pages.I made lots of notes here so I could remember to respond to everyone, so let's hope I don't screw up the second time around.

Janet - One word.............HOT

Phyll - beautiful family.......cute kids. I only have two grandbabies. Sounds like a great b'day party. The foods you ate sounds good to me. Nothing to feel guilty about. You had a little bit of everything. That's the key there.......Little bit. It's when we go all out and binge that's the problem.

Ruby - I feel for you. I never could go anywhere the first two days of my period. A super tampon never lasted more than a half hour. I don't know if I had PCOS, but my daughtrer directed me to a website and I had just about all the symptoms of it. I had a partial hysterectomy and the big M has been a breeze.

Linda - forget what mommy says. Vanity be damned. We deserve to be vain after losing the weight we have. I am proud of it and I don't care what anyone says. Just wait, your sister is going to get to where you are and she'll want a TT too. Then what's your mom going to say? Man, that's when I'd remind her what she told me.

Karri - Toss the nutritionist. Who needs her. You know what you need best. You've proved that you can do it. You know how you feel. You know what they say......you can never be to rich or too thin. You're not anorexic or bullimic.........you feel good. If you keep losing weight, and you're healthy.....why worry. You can always add a dessert or pick one day on the week-end and splurge with DH. (I noticed you like that word) Go out to Breakfast or dinner....eat those good things like pancakes, bacon, hash browns or dinner and eat all those yummy things you gave up....You'll maintain your weight. Just keep on doing what you're doing and splurge one day a week.

Sunny - I wasn't here back at the beginning.........but I love it now. This is my support system. I have to check in every morning for motivation. I don't know if I could do it without these folks. We are a FAMILY..........and family supports one another. I love these guys.

Denise - Camping? Swimming outside? In March? Where do you live? I don't do camping. Too much of a wuss. Told DH if he got me an RV, I'd go camping all the time. I like my creature comforts too much. As for the people you were with talking about you behind your back, Let them. Losing this weight is something to be damned proud of. It is how yiu feel about yourself that is important. You can always come here and get a pat on the back it you need it.

Okay, now I have bored everyone...I'd better sign off...it is finally nice here in Mi. Sun is shining and it's sposed to get to the low sixties today. Think I might go outside and see if my back and knee can handle a walk. I'll be sure to take my cell with me so I can call for help if needed.

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE............I'LL CHECK IN LATER.

HUGS TO ALL.

Both my parents are deceased and I'm the oldest girl, so I don't know when it'll be for me. I have no idea of my mother's menstrual history. She didn't share any of it with me. In fact, it was my father that gave me "the talk" about periods and sex and he was the one who took me for my first bra fitting. So it's always been a matter of "deal with whatever is thrown at you" kind of attitude for me. While I appreciate that my father went the extra mile for me, it certainly wasn't his role to do so and I tried to minimize as much embarrassment as far as female issues went for his sake as much as my own. Yeah, I have lots of mother issues. :Dancing_wub:

Hey Everybody check out this site!

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f12/embarrassing-56493/

I think I freakin peed my pants!!:lol::thumbup::lol::drool::lol:

OMG dats damn funny!!!

Monsterous melting mons:lol::laugh::lol::w00t::lol:

Kitty lift:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

That was funny! I almost peed myself too.

When I get my TT I'm going to ask for a "kitty lift" and a touch of Lipo there as well. Mine doesn't sag. Yet. But it could do with a little maintenance. There's a little too much padding than I like, so while the surgeon's down there tucking my tummy in, he may as well lift and suck the other bits that need it. :Dancing_wub::lol:

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
