Thanks for all the support everyone!

Denise~You will be great! I was totally scared even made my monthly visitor visit me early! So far it isn't nearly as bad as I anticipated. The surgeon said my abdominal wall was deeper then he anticipated because of my weight, but once he got that he said I was perfect and a piece of cake. If you have any questions or concerns let me know, I as well as several others on here, know all the pre-op fears and concerns. Good luck at your pre-op!

GOOD morning all, yes, a GOOD morning it is. I'm putting the last 2 days behind me and having a fresh new start. Sorry I was in such a rut yesteday, I was just really scared, but I feel soooo much better today. Just ate some oatmeal, and it went down fine, no pain. I still will probably only have 2 mushy meals today alternating with liquids, just to keep it at a slow pace. What a difference a day makes.

Patti C., thanks for the blessings, I think they really worked.

AppleBlossom, I agree with you on the salad bar, I'm so missing it, but it will have to wait a while. I am getting some fruits in my shakes, so it's been pretty tasty. Who would of thought we'd miss salad??

Tinkerbell, so glad you're up and feeling great.

mango, good luck on the pre op appointment. Let us kow how it goes.

Chimboree, Good for you!!! I wouldn't want to deal with those GNC people either, but unfortunately most of what we need is from there or somewhere similar!!!! I did find another alternative ... Vitamin World. I love the vanilla Protein Drink from there, didn't care for strawberry and didn't try the chocolate ... was buy one, get one too! whey Protein Powder, 2 lb. container, 1 scoop is 18 g. Protein.< /p>

Tinkerbell, Well done! You will pass a lot of fluids for awhile, but as far as the gas and the rest, give it a few days and it will get better!!!!

Kristin, good luck!!!!!

Chim, just went to Fit Day, oh how cool is that. I started my journal and my food for the day. Love to log it in there, instead of on a sheet at home. Hope it will be ok with the dietician, but I love to be able to customize the food I'm eating to add up the calories. Awesome. Going to be on there today getting all my favorite foods logged in so they are set up. It will go quicker later on. and I put in my weight today, 215, and told them I wanted to weigh 132 by my birthday next year, 6/17/08, and it figured I have to lose 1.74 lbs a week to reach my goal by my birthday. I can do this!!!

Jeanie, I don't taste it in my Soups, and taste just a little in my cottage cheese. I don't think it's bad.

I've been thinking about this one, because I seem to be getting in my Protein from my vanilla and chocolate protein with my shakes right now, and with my food choices, I'm getting in the amount the dietician wanted me to get in, which is minimum of 55 g, idealy 60 to 70 g a day.

But once we go to mushies, I think I'll be using the unflavored more often in things like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc. I was starting to think I payed all that money and it's just been sitting there, but I think it will really help me out in this new phase. I let you know as I go.

Yeah, I think you are right! It will be used a lot in the next phase! Now, my doc doesn't want us to use much in the Protein Drinks once we go on a "regular diet", he wants us to get the Protein from what we eat, so I would think that would be when you would want to use the unflavored stuff.

Jeanie, yes, it sounds like our docs are on the same page with that one, what a shocker huh,LOL.

I also asked at my appointment if there was such a thing as getting in too much Protein, and he said no, as long as I'm using the isolate protein.

I am on the mushy/soft stage now and was told not to have any less than 50 g. of protein/day. Also, told I can go back and forth from the pureed, mushy, and soft stages, as I feel able. I go back in two weeks, and by then should be able to eat just about anything. Then another 2 weeks and an adjustment!!!! I know I have no restriction right now, just what I have within myself, but so far, so good!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
