Forgive me for I have sinned

Recommended Posts

So I've done great. Lost 130 pounds from my high weight of 298. Now at 168 which is less than my goal and under my personal goal. That was in 8 months. I'm 11 months post op.

So I ate a McDonalds cheeseburger and a quarter of a small fries today, ALL OF IT, and it wasn't a problem. Now, after 11 months of worrying that half a slice of pizza was eating too much, I killed a cheeseburger and some fries. And I'm stressing that I've stretched my pouch. My problem has been STOPPING losing weight, and I eat small portions.

Why was I able to eat all that with barely a "too full" burp, what gives? are McD's cheeseburgers just "that small," was I more full than I thought, should I shut up, count my blessings and be rational knowing even if I did eat too much this ONE time that I have not done irreparable damage?

How far post-op will I stop worrying? The fear of being heavy is strong (but not so strong that I didn't eat a cheeseburger today). Oh boy,...

I used to eat 10 double cheese burgers with no problems. I'm lucky now to even eat half of one. I used to eat two extra large pizzas from Papa Johns with no issues. Now, 1 slice does me in.

I do miss the taste. LOL

I wouldn't stress it too much. Being cognizant of the fact that poor habits can cause unwanted outcomes can be a powerful motivator.

You've just elevated yourself to "legendary" status in my book. In high school i murked 52 slices of CiCi's pizza after football practice. They ran us out that night.

I am glad we have all changed now!

I was only 74 lbs over weight when I had my sleeve. I did it for all the right reasons. I'm 6 7' so I could def. carry my weight well. I also could eat like you wouldn't believe. I feel like i'm eating to much because I eat an average of 5 to 7 times a day. Even though the meals are small I feel like its too much.

Alright, It was 1 bad decision. Just keep it at 1. I'm sure if you ate that type of food at each meal ....and everyday....then you would have a problem to face. I really doubt you stretched your sleeve....but if that is possible, I am sure that you aren't anywhere near where you were before surgery. No worries.

Just keep in mind that the surgery is a tool for you to use for the rest of your life. It wont stop you from bad choices it only stops you from eating large portions.

Hang in there.

A cheeseburger from McDonald's doesn't have a whole lot of meat. The Buns are sliders probably. So yeah a plain cheeseburger, yeah I can see eating one just fine art almost a year out. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just get back on the horse.

You have done so great I cant wait to be at goal. When I did Weight Watchers the McDonalds Cheeseburger was only 7 points which is not alot so in that sense I dont think you would gain weight back Im not sure on the stretching that is a good question. I have had the sleeve now for 4 weeks and I love the fact I eat 2 tablespoons of Beans and im stuffed.

You're fine! Enjoy your treat and get back to it! Maybe adding some healthy carbs back into your diet may stop the fast weight loss. Don't beat yourself up. We are all human plus it's all moderation. You deserve it after all the hard work you've done!

My doctor told me that the pouch won't stretch that much because when they cut part of the stomach out it's the part that stretches the most. So, I wouldn't worry about stretching your sleeve.

What is your daily Protein intake?

Me or pinkbunies? I get 80-100 usually.

Both actually. I'm still trying to get to my goal of 80 per day but I'm still early post.

A lot of probiotic drinks are packed with Protein. Siggis brand yogurts and drinks are great. Kieffer has good protein in it and Calcium. Early on Isopure clear Protein Drinks were great

I just searched on "how much can a gastric sleeve stretch?" and found this site. It speaks directly to your questions about big meals and stretching your sleeve. Apparently one or two meals won't do it, but continuous abuse will.

Here, check it out....

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
