I am having so much pain when sipping on fluids! They told me it's because my stomach pouch is surrounded by staples. I'm having so much trouble getting anything down though! And the gas pains are outrageous!!!! Feeling very down! Advise please!!!!

You have to drink very slowly. When I was at your stage it took me 3hrs to get down 4oz. You have to take tinier than tiny sips. You also have to walk to get that gas out. There's no easy way.

Glad to hear that this phase is temporary. I was also sleeved on Oct 20th. Just came home this evening. Had massive nausea 2nd day.

I'm 15 days post-op. I'm feeling great now. However, the first week was miserable. I regretted my surgery every single day. I was positive I was going to die from malnutrition. It seems day 7-8 was my turning point. Since then every day has been better. Today I feel slightly better than I did PRE surgery. I've lost 25lbs so far and am happy I went through with the surgery. You won't regret anything soon.

I'm feeling very "abnormal". The gas is just constant and so unconfortable.

Hi there,

I was also sleeved on the 20th and had the same issue with gas and still do a little bit, it does pass. Also I have been having rolling pain from my stomach that feels like hunger pains and kinda burns and radiates to my back. I found out this is very common and can last up to two weeks. It is because your stomach is angry. It's inflamed, swollen, like you said closed with staples, and on top of it all it is brand new. Your nerve endings are reforming and that is what causes the most pain. Things will get a little better daily.

I was also sleeved in the 20th. Had to spend an extra day in the hosptial due to the nausea and pain. My vest advice is walk, walk and did I mention walk?. No plain water! add crystal light or similar - makes a huge difference. Ice chips are your friend. It has been getting better but slowly. Hang in there. I'm right there with you.

I was sleeved on the 20th and I understand what you are saying its rough. walk as much as you can, very tiny sips gas x strips have really helped me. I know its frustrating at times, but I know its going to get better. I'm starting to be able to take in more fluids which I'm praying will help with my Migraines. We can do this little steps every day we are one step closer to our goals. Good luck :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
