gastric bypass vs. sleeve

hello I new to the group. I am scheduled to have my surgery nov 3rd. I was originally planning through this whole process to have the gastric. I met with my doctor this week and he told me the sleeve might be a good option too to consider. I just wanted to hear from people who had the surgery and see what you have to say. or maybe why you went with one over the other. thanks.

I did suffer from 'silent reflux' at night, pre-op, and was taking omeprazole which prevented it. During my sleeve op they discovered that my hiatus hernia was larger than anticipated, so repaired it before proceeding. Like most sleeve patients I was prescribed dissolvable lansaprazole post op. I'm now 6 weeks out and had a check-up yesterday. I asked if I could stop the lansaprazole now as I'd had the hernia repair but was advised to keep taking them as acid reflux is common in sleeve patients. I haven't had any problems so far..
