@@Beni and Smiley.. when I grocery shop, I find myself looking at turkeys, bags of potatoes, etc to visualize the weight loss I have done. It helps keep myself on track. You are sooooo right.. we were so miserable! It baffles me that I normalized myself to that quality of life! I appreciate this support group and how people are honest in what his or her experiences. Keep it real, it helps keep things in perspective!

That's my biggest thing looking at pictures....how did I convince myself I was happy and confident that size?! I'm so thankful I don't feel the need to sleep all day anymore. It's nice to be working toward a goal and seeing success even if it is a one pound at a time success.

I need some advice.....I have been nauseous all day with diarrhea, my stomach feels like it is on fire. I can't eat and am terribly thirsty. Any advice?

@@finallyaloser does your surgeon have a emergency call number. If so call ASAP. If not go to the ER you may be dehydrated and need emergency fluids. Are you able to get liquids down? Which procedure did you have & how long ago?

@ finallyaloser

Time to call the doctor ASAP this is not normal. They are on call 24 hours or someone in their staff is.

Next time I am at the grocery store I'll size up 48 lbs of ham or Turkey (several of them) and get a visual of my weight loss. I can't wait. Who knew grocery shopping could be so fun.

By the way, today for the first time in forever I felt my hip bones. The ones that stick forward. I had forgotten I had them. Hello, I have hip bones, lol!

WLS people have the audacity to hope for a better future. And guess what? It's coming true. I can run now, for only a short bit but I had forgotten what it felt like to run. I was on the treadmill and did a little run. Still very short and careful but it was awesome.

Well, I still didn't get caught up today but at least read posts. ...

I have hip bones too, isn't it fun! My honey grabbed my tush yesterday and in a shocked voice said "my gosh! You're disappearing before my eyes!"

Yeah....so are my boobs! We went bra shopping this weekend. My poor, poor boobies!

I have put in a call to my surgeons office several hours ago, but of course no one has called me back. I had RNY on October 15th. I am able to hold down a little Water, but so far that is all. I still can't eat anything g and now it feels like my acid reflux is acting up, which hasn't happened since surgery. I am miserable, guess a trip to the ER is coming soon.

I'm going to whine for a minute. I feel like I'm losing so slow, I've only lost a Pound this week, sigh. I get my Vitamins and my required Protein in, I've started exercise. I feel defeated, like I won't even get to my goal weight even in a year.

dont worry I feel u on that I don't know what's wrong with me I'm not losing either I don't even think a pound a week some people have lost 28lbs at 4weeks and I'm at 6 weeks and I've lost 7lbs what the hell I'm I not doing right smh

@beni: I compare my weight loss to ten pound sacks of potatoes. In my case, almost TEN sacks of potatoes!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
