I was on a 3 week pre-op and I ate what I liked, but modified it. I had zucchini boat pizza, montreal seasoned chicken on salad, and taco salad. I had attempted to have this surgery before and had 1 too many food funerals...I woke up without surgery being done.

Good luck!

I'm planning on sticking to my 2 week pre-op diet, which I start on 10/15, but on 10/14 I am having DH make me his spaghetti and meatballs as my last real meal!

I started my preop diet on Monday. Sunday night I had my Last Supper. My husband and I went to a very nice French restaurant and I did the tasting menu and wine flight. The food was amazing. The week before, I did eat some junk food that I don't usually eat and that will probably never pass my lips again (onion rings, patty melt). But I wanted to go out on a high note. I didn't want to think that my last "normal meal" was something stupid like a cheeseburger. At least I have a decent meal and experience to remember!

It's like I told my husband, I had a good run for 44 years, now it's time to face the music. I'm now five days into the preop and it's not that bad. I'm dreading the all-liquid part and the postop but I can do it.

My last meal will be an ALL DAY thing, I've decided!!

One of my coworkers said her last meal was a chile verde burrito and a Dr. Pepper...kind of made me chuckle, since she's 15 months post op and she drinks soda everyday..

Be careful if you are having your last meal after doing pre op liquid diet. It can make you really sick. I did mine before I started my preop liquid diet.

Mine will be tomorrow for Breakfast. I might just go crazy and have bacon and eggs. (I know, that's not really that crazy!) Will start on the pre-op diet at lunchtime. Have to travel north mid-morning to pick up my Optifast shakes and bars and just got my surgery date yesterday. I was told not to fast ahead of time and go ahead and eat a normal Breakfast. Working tonight until 9PM and don't get home until 10, so I hope we have bacon in the fridge at home!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
