I HAVE INSURANCE APPROVAL!!!!! I am so so so excited! So I am officially scheduled for November 4th at 9:30. My doctor doesn't require a pre-op because of my BMI but I am going to do one anyway becuase I think it will help me mentally prepare.

I just got the call today, Sleeve surgery on Nov 3rd!!!! So excited/scared/nervous but thankful that the time has come!! Start Protein drinks/liquids only next week & I'm ok with it, just another hoop to jump thru to get on the road to a healthier, happier life. When I get down/frustrated I visualize all the positive things to come~ being more active, less tired, able to take walks & ride bike with the hubby, fit comfortably in theatre/airplane seats, being able to shop for clothes in a 'regular' store....so many things that a lifetime of morbid obesity have stolen from me. I'm 58 & have been fighting this fight for 40+ years & I know I'll still have to fight but I feel like I'll finally have a tool in my bag that will help me with the battle.

Getting ready for my sleeve...I will be getting mine at mayo. 11. 14. Based on what I've read it's good to know I'm on the same wavelength with some of you folks in terms of readiness and being nervous.

I get to join the party! I received a letter from my insurance yesterday that I have been approved. My surgeon's office won't be open until Friday, it is going to be such a long week.

I'm waiting for insurance approval, but I am scheduled for November 18. I am excited and nervous at the same time. A few years ago I started the process of getting a band, but I lost so much weight in the months leading up to it that I canceled. Of course I eventually gained most of it back. That makes me very sure that this is something I need to do. Now I just want to get it over with!

@@L2me did you get approval? On for the 18th? That's my date

I'm scheduled for nov.25 as well but I haven't tried anything ???? im actually looking for Protein Shakes recommendations

Premier Protein shakes are the best! They have great flavors and my surgeon and doctors say that premier has the best numbers to go by! ???? congrats on your surgery date!! Mine is Nov 18th ????????

I am loving Syntrax Nectar Protein Powder - they have not only chocolate and vanilla and Cookies and cream, etc but also juice flavors - lemonade and fuzzy navel and stuff like that. They are all realllllllly tasty and the juice flavors are nice for when you get sick of vanilla and chocolate type stuff!!! Good luck! ???? I would suggest going to GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and getting some one shake pouches of different brands to try before you buy a tub of anything!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
