Sleevers 22 September - 28 September - Check in

Recommended Posts

I saw this thread for people who had surgery the week prior and thought it would be good to start one for everyone who had surgery last week.

My surgery was on Wednesday the 24th. Had an unexpected hernia repair during the surgery which my surgeon said would make me more sore. He wasn't lying. I'm still pretty sore. First few days were a blur, I just wanted to sleep. My first three days I was only able to get down a 1/3 of a Protein shake. It was so much work.

Today was probably the first day that regular food started looking appealing to me. Not having any issues with the liquid diet though, I generally get filled up pretty fast.

My weight on day of surgery was 244 and this morning I was at 240.

I have the next month off and I'm happy to have the time to bond with my baby sleeve. I have already learned that drinking too fast makes it chatty.

I was sleeved on Friday, Sept. 26th. Couldn't get enough liquids in 1st day, so I stayed in the hospital for 2 nights. Feel MUCH better today. I'm amazed I feel normal.

I was sleeved on the 23rd. Stayed overnight in the hospital and other than nausea the first few days, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm easily drinking my Protein and Water, but I drank about a gallon a day pre-surgery. Still sore, especially when I cough, but I'm down 13 lbs!!

I was sleeved 9/23 and I also had a hernia repair. Is anyone having Fluid intake problems. I'm calling the dr tomorrow because I try to drink plenty but I'm also competing with diarrhea and I'm feel good in the morning, take a shower and completely exhausted. Or don't shower, work in the kitchen cooking and then BAM!! I'm done for the day.

@@lose4life2 Today was the first day I got all my Water and Protein in and I feel like I ate 2 Thanksgiving dinners. I'm having the opposite of the diarrhea problem. I've been taking Miralax every day and I'm hoping it works soon.

@@Boopgwee What are you eating when you get cramping? Seems like most of us are either on Clear Liquids or full liquids at this point.

I am cutting myself off the pain medication today. I'm still pretty sore but I'm pretty sure that my lack of bathroom action is due to the pain meds. I'd rather be sore than not be able to go to the bathroom.

The past few days I've gotten out to the store and walked around but got tired pretty quickly. I think I'll take the dogs out for a few short walks today and burn a few calories.

I had my surgery on Thursday the 25th. I had no idea how bad the gas pains were going to be. When I woke up on morphine and was still feeling like someone had ripped my chest open and was pulling at my heart. I was in a state of pure shock. I stayed in the hospital 2 nights because I could not hold any liquids down and I was dry heaving, which was so panful! I finally came home Saturday, but decided no pain meds because they just made me nauseous. It's 4 days later and I still have some residual gas pains, but nothing like Thursday and Friday. I am feeling a lot better, but can't help but want to kick myself in the a$$ for all the pain I inflicted on myself. I have lost weight since surgery. I was 178 on Surgery day and today I weigh 167. My goal weight is 120. I have been able to hold down clear liquids, and just got down my first 8 oz of Protein shake. I hope that the recovery is a speedy process and that I can be looking back at the post and this pain seem like a distant memory. Kind of like having a baby…you remember it hurt like hell, but it was worth it in the end.

I had my surgery the following day. I agree that the 1st 24 hours were rough. I was pissed off: "Now, what did I just go and do! I had a perfectly good stomach!" But the next day, I felt a LOT better.

I'm on clear liquids. I really want to get some Protein in, so I'm putting up with the Isopure clear bottles with 40 grams of Protein. Can't wait to advance to full liquids!

@@Boopgwee I was feeling stuffed and miserable yesterday after getting in all my Protein and the doctor's office called today and told me to cut back so I don't feel that way, I just may need less in the beginning. That might work for you. Take it very slow and make sure you sip. I've taken a few big drinks and I feel it going down and it's not pleasant.

@@lose4life2 I have been enjoying nap time as well.

I had surgery on 9/24. The gas is the worse pain. Trying to get the Fluid in. Walking has helped some with the gas.

Here's what I don't understand. I've read a lot of posts on gas pain and yet my doctor's office didn't really bring it up as an issue. I even asked in my pre-op class and they just said no one complains about it. So on surgery day when my surgeon came by to see if I had any questions, I asked about gas. He said that it shouldn't be an issue because they extract the gas out when they're finished. And by golly, no gas pains for me. So why don't all doctor's do this? It's clearly causing a lot of pain.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
