Hello everyone, we can do this!!! 10 more days until my surgery. I'm feeling good, staying hydrated & praying that everyone's surgery & pre-post op liquid diets go well. I'm on a 1200 diet calorie liquid diet. My calorie in take is no more than 620. My Protein Shakes are 30 grams of Protein. I thought I would have 2 shakes per meal but I'm full after the 1st one.

I have been pretty fortunate that the pre-op liquid diet has kept me satisfied. chicken broth is my new best friend. I make most my own drinks and like experimenting. The light muscle milk vanilla is my favorite as far as store bought. It only has 15 grams of protein... But you can have 2 for one meal and it meets my requirements from my surgeon. I drink tons of Water so I won't have any back up. (Wink wink).

I love chicken broth too. It had helped me out with being nauseous. Staying hydrated is another thing that I've been focused on. Drinking over 64oz a day. It's a must. I'm looking forward to each stage as strange as that may seem. There is so much that you can do to healthy foods. Stay focused & congrats to everyone as we embark on this wonderful journey.

Surgery is Monday morning for me and I have been on Clear Liquids and Meal Replacement shakes since the 19th. I have lost 20lbs since then... It Works!! I had two little mini meltdowns... One day I wanted a freshly made biscuit my mother made and the other she came home with leftover shrimp and french fries... so I just went to bed lol.. Im surprised how well I have handled it. Hopefully that translates to an easy recovery and beyond... you can do it!! :)

Kayla raye 17 I just experienced something similar to what you went thru. Cinnamon raisin Bagels are truly a weakness. I cooked Breakfast & my fiancé brought home bagels. I'm so glad that I'm not weak. They smelled so good. But not once did I say I'm eating this food. So I can relate & applaud you for sticking to the rules. Keep up the excellent work!!!

Luckyone53 I've done that in the past too. Lol. But the only thing that've changed for them was instead of white bread etc. I'm making them eat whole wheat. No junk food or anything. They are ok with it. They have no choice. Lol

I am on day 4 of my liquid diet. My surgery is at 10:00 on Tuesday, Oct. 7th. I'm actually surprised at how well I'm doing on this liquid only pre-op diet considering I failed at it during my practice runs at it earlier this summer. I've been jumping through the hoops to get this surgery since January and I think I've finally come to a point where I'm mentally ready for the present and future diet requirements.

I don't get really hungry until the evening. This is probably because I'm trying to kick my bad habit of night time (and middle of the night) snack eating. I have been drinking chicken broth instead, however; I'm worried that the high sodium had led me to retain Water. I've also been walking 60-90 min. a day this past week and I really think it helps.

Ladies, the 2 week pre op diet is more to prepare you for such a small intake after the procedure. Of course it helps to shrink the liver amongst clean out the system. I suffer from Migraine headaches. The hunger was a instant killer for me. I turned into a total grouch. Found myself walking more to relieve my stress, drinking more fluids, which actually helped me lose 10lbs now before my surgery on Tuesday September 30. The liquid is no longer a challenge its an automatic meal. I make my own Soups now which are twice as better as I thought they would be

Actually - it's the other way around. The pre-op diet is too shrink your liver as it sits on top of the stomach and they have to retract it in order to perform the surgery. A large and brittle liver won't work. As for preparing you for small meals...you don't need to be prepared. Most of your stomach has

Been removed. You won't be hungry. I'm having a much easier time with hunger/nausea after the surgery than before. I'm not hungry at all and I'm amazed at how little I need to eat to feel okay. On the pre-op diet I was nauseas and fatigued. I'm only 6 days post op but I have more energy now than before on the pre-op diet and that is at about 700 calories/90 grams Protein. Just try to get through pre-op diet as best you can. Best to all!

WL Warrior it's amazing how I'm getting through the liquid diet too. It's very much mental. I get a little hungry at times but I drink my Water or broth or eat my Jello. Sometimes I ignore the hunger pains. I'm glad that I'm not nauseous & I haven't had any major headaches. All is well, I'm happy & I'm exercising. Best wishes to you on your surgery. Keep us posted on your progress.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
