I felt a million times better after they got rid of the pain pump. It was making me dizzy, nauseated, and light headed. As soon as it was out of my system I immediately felt better and the liquid pain meds did an effective enough job to keep the pain at bay. I actually told my surgeon I wanted the pca gone because I think it was causing all those problems for me. I got it out half an hour later.

@@kimodell69 I actually live in Frederick, MD. I am having surgery at Fair Oaks because that's where my surgeon does his surgery. He's one of the best in the area and I wanted the best! It's worth the travel to make sure everything is done well.

How do you like Florida? I think I'd miss the seasons. Besides, I love snow! LOL

Ugh, I sent in for my fmla, and my short term disability on the 6th and 9th respectively. It has been 10 days since I filed the forms with the surgeons office to approve my fmla through my job and my job has done nothing, Nothing to it at all. Without those forms I can't get approved for my short term disability. I'm about to go up there and raise he'll since they were getting snippy with me about filing the forms in the first place.

After my morphine pump ended, I felt like I had been run over by a train. And with the liquid lortab, I feel pretty good for a couple hours then I fade and feel crappy.

I everyone, I have not dropped of the face of the the earth.

Just have been super busy volunteering at the Hospital Ladies Board yearly Rummage sale. It is a huge deal and 100,000s of dollars are raised. We expect 20,000 from my department alone. We have the designer goods and my on my I am exhausted every night.

Today was ruff I had a Premier vanilla shake for lunch and it did not agree with me. Guess who had to use a port a potty 5 times. Fortunately only volunteers had used it and it was very clean but still, yuck. There's like 20 potties I had to play guess what's behind the door for a good one. I wish I could have gone home but I wouldn't have made it. Sorry for the TMI but has anyone had this issue with these shakes. I am now worried sick I picked up a stomach virus. What if I don't get better fast enough and my surgery is cancelled. Jeez, why is this happening?

Last week I went to Cheesecake Factory (last meal befor 2 week diet) and had something that caused some of the worst heartburn I have had in years. Had to call the doctor who placed me pronto on Protonix ( a stronger Prilosec like med). Is there a black cloud over me?

After tomorrow, I am only going out of the house for the absolute essential stuff. HIBERNATION

Surgery went well. Had to stay in the recovery room for a long time until my room was ready. Pain is not bad at all. The dry mouth is worse. Luckily I followed the suggestions others posted and brought dry mouth rinse .

Beni, my husband and I have been using Premier Protein for about two years and never had that happen. Hope it was a freak thing and your not getting sick.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
