Trouble with your liquids - USE THIS

Recommended Posts

Alright guys. I have seen a lot of posts from people that can't seem to get their powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury or Bari Essentials / Isopure shakes down and I am here to tell you, there is hope. I don't typically endorse products but this has been a saving grace for me with Protein requirements.

Premier Protein - premade shakes. They are sold at Sam's Club or costco in packs of 12 or 18. I think that costco only carries the vanilla and strawberry and cream flavor and Sam's carries the chocolate which is the one I have tried and survive by.

This shake is the consistancy of chocolate milk and there is no foam or froth in it like shakes you make at home out of powders. This allows you to drink it essentially like Water, without it tasting like powdered trash or someone else's slobber going down.

The Nutrition of it is nuts! 160 calories, 30 grams of Protein, 3 grams of fat, 1 gram of sugar. It is milk based protein with some whey. One shake is half of most peoples daily value of protein so if you cant stand the 8oz foamy shakes that powders make, this 11oz alternative is the way to go. They are portable so you could easily take them to work or school or on an outing, and they don't have to be refrigerated until after opening, though I highly suggest having it cold.

Cost - they are about 1.50 for a shake, so for a month supply of just one a day which is what I use it is about 45 dollars. Most of us ate that much in fast food a week prior to surgery and I know for the BariEssentials products, it was 90 dollars for a one week tub to make your own at home. ( I think that was 3 shakes a day so it might have been slightly less but it was still more expensive.)

I hope this helps some of you. Also, I would like to suggest people trading off shake mixes that didn't work out for them with someone else who wants to try something new. Make some posts about what you have and why it didn't work out for you and network with someone else to trade. Just be safe and good to one another.

I've gotten the Unjury tubs of chocolate and chicken and unflavored. Anyone use these that doesn't have a blender or bullet shaker? Does it mix well with a spoon? I hate to get something I will only use for a month or 2.

I use these products, except the unflavored. The chicken Soup stirs up fine in a cup using a spoon. Just make sure the Water temp is not above 140 degrees.

I have a little rubbermaid bottle, nothing fancy (it's the one Unjury sent when I bought a smaple pack), that I use for the shakes when away from my Ninja. It mixes well. I've not tried to mix with just a spoon, sorry. But I would think if it wasn't working, a mason jar would work, then you could give it a few shakes.< /p>

Amazon, thanks. I too received a Rubbermaid container with my sample packs. Just glad I don't have to use a blender. Not that I don't like blenders just never had a use for one.

I drink the Premier shakes also and don't mind how they taste but they make my teeth so fuzzy! I'd recommend keeping a toothbrush on hand if you're taking them to work or traveling with them.

Love the Premier Protein Shakes!!! vanilla tastes like tapioca pudding to me, which I love! You could probably add some sugar free Torani orange Syrup to make it taste like a creamsicle too. I also have the unjury Unflavored powder to add to other stuff, like pudding, Soup, etc., when I need to add more to my day.

I discovered the chocolate Premier shakes at Sam's pre surgery! They have saved my LIFE! The only shake I can get down now... And if they still seem too thick cut them with skim milk. chocolate milk! Best I have found!

I, too, use the Premier shake. I order mine on line & they come in 24 containers to a box. I like the chocolate & strawberry & switch back & forth. I haven't tried the vanilla. They also have a new flavor but I don't remember what it is. I'm on their email list & I got a request for what flavor I would like to see them make next. I chose chocolate/peanut butter.

I also still drink 1 Protein shake a day. If I'm behind in my Protein I will drink 2. I also use the unjury powder in strawberry sorbet. I tried mixing it in Water but couldn't stand it. I mix it with Vanilla, unsweetened almond milk. Yummy!! I think I will go and have some since I haven't had any today. :)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
