Gastric Bypass or Sleeve? Why did you choose what you chose?

After my orientation yesterday I was wondering why people chose which surgery?

I was originally thinking Bypass but then heard sleeve is the #1 service right now - still thinking bypass but curious

A lot of information to process! :)

Thanks everyone! The surgeon ended up recommending the sleeve for me. He said I'm young, don't have too many other health issues and my weight is within range for a sleeve. I guess if it were higher and I had other health concerns he would have recommended the rny. I have been doing all my research on the gastric bypass and now I'm reading on the sleeve. Now I'm really torn! The sleeve seems like it has good results but I know the bypass has been done and researched and followed for more than the 5 years the sleeve has.

I had really wanted the sleeve, but my Ins. Would not pay for it, so I am getting the bypass and I am a little nervous. The Dr. told me that it has been around longer and it is the golden rule for all the other surgery. So I have come to terms with it and also research this a lot.
