I'm 4 weeks post-surgery and went back to work about 10 days after surgery. I work on my feet and talk to large crowds of people for approx 6-8 hours straight. The first week was really rough and I had to call out sick twice due to vomiting. It's been getting slowly better since then, but I'm really struggling with balancing when I can eat and how to stay hydrated when I'm on my feet during that time. Today I actually had a rare whole hour for lunch, but only two bites of chicken salad went down, and when I got to work, I got that tell-tale pressure in my back and chest and ended up throwing up and having to leave. My bosses also don't know about what kind of surgery I had, but now I feel like I have to tell them since it's affecting me so much at work, but that's another story.

My big question is: how long did it take people to achieve a work-sleeve balance?

Thanks!

I went to work for a few hours 4 days after surgery. I've gone to the office everyday for a few hours each day. But I'm so tired when I get home. Today makes 2 weeks out of surgery.

I have a desk job and went back after two weeks. I usually work 50 - 60 hours/week, but told my boss I would only be working 40 for the first two weeks. I did ok, but was really tired at the end of the day. After two months there were no issues at all.

I have a desk job and am hoping to be scheduled for my surgery by the end of September. I'm planning to take a week off and then go back to work. I'm expecting to be tired but at least when I get home, I only have to worry about taking care of me and my 2 dogs! I'm planning to have all my housework taken care of before I have the surgery so that I won't have to worry about cleaning.

I have a desk job and took a week off. But it took me a good month to get back to my old self and have energy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
