August post op sleevers: Check in

I am so afraid to eat one mth 3 days out. chicken is still too hard to digest and I am bored already. Tired of tuna, salmon meat balls. Wat more can I eat? Can I have a few crackers. Is it true sugar is now the enemy I can't have sugar no more? Any advice.

@ Karen Scott there are many things you can eat I'm not sure what you like but today I made zucchini noodles with Langostino lobster and 1/4 cup of light Alfredo sauce for only 160 calories I stayed within my carb range and all other ranges for that fact. So just get created and good luck.

m4nurse how much carbs should I b eating anyway. But I get so full easily. I chicken leg fills me up leaves no room for much more.

Heeeyyyyy!!!

I was sleeves aug 26th. Was 250 now at 230. I walk about a mile a night average. Now it's been a month I can work out more. I was told not to till a month. You can for sure see that I'm shrinking.... I love it! Eating about 50g of Protein a day sometimes more. I can now eat soft foods for a week then regular foods after. I eat about 2-4oz per meal. Depending on what it is I guess. Been surviving off deli sliced turkey....yum. For sure hurts when I eat a little too much. I have to immediately get up and walk around and pray I don't boot. Still learning the new pains and discomforts if that makes any sense. I did regret this surgery the first week. Now I'm so happy I did this. We are all blessed to have done this!

Hi all, I'm 6 weeks post op now, went band to sleeve on the 12th of August. Lost 30lbs, was 244lb on day of op, today I'm 214lb. Stalled for a few weeks, scales just moved again yesterday. Eating more than I thought I would be able to at about a cup per meal of any type of food. Can drink right before eating with no issue. Not really feeling hunger, no pain / gas / reflux. Exercising daily, feeling a little tired at times but I guess that's to be expected, I'm hoping it won't last long, otherwise all is good :-)

@ Karen Scott I try not to go over 60 grams of carbs per day some do even less than that I find that when I was eating over 100 grams per day my weight was stalled. I will be 6 weeks post op on Friday and was stalled since week 2-4 and that was torture!

Way to go, vbm510!!! Congrats to you. You were sleeved the day before me so we are both celebrating on one month surgiversary. I was 270, now at 238 (that include pre-op diet, surgery, and post-op diet).

I have not moved toward solid foods yet, but I have been eating normal foods for over a week now instead of baby foods. Solid foods are still giving me a little trouble, but I seem okay with mashed or chopped foods. Here's a handy little gadget that I found. Works great anywhere and it will take almost any restaurant meal and turn it into a thick, but easy to keep down substance. I've been going thicker and less chopped little by little. Happy one-month surgiversary to me! And bye, bye 32 pounds. So glad I made the decision I did. Thank you Dr. Osuna and the staff at Hospital MI Doctor in Tijuana!!! You changed my life!

I agree with m4nurse, there are lots to things to eat, it just depends on what you like. Recently, I made chicken salad with ranch dressing (low-fat of course). I used canned chicken and put in a food processor to make it easier to digest. I also made ground turkey meatloaf with gravy to keep it juicy. It really depends on your food preference, but there are lots of things to do. It's for sure having this surgery has me creating meals or eating things I thought I'd never eat.

I'm six weeks out today, 30 lbs slimmer since surgery-- in Puerto Vallarta with Dr. Alejandro Lopez-- (34 lbs from the week before surgery) and many inches smaller. I've followed the nut guidelines very carefully and have not had any issues with the progression of liquids, soft foods, slow introduction of most foods. chicken seems to be my "go to" food. I've made BBQ chicken (with no calories, no carbs, gluten free Walden Farms BBQ sauce), Korma chicken from a recipe on another bariatric foodie website--all in my new slow cooker (which is AMAZING and super easy)! I eat super slowly and chew, chew, chew. Can only get down two-three tablespoons at a sitting, then I'm full. I'm definitely getting in mostly Protein, but not lots of calories (averaging about 300-400 per day). I start Jazzercising again on October 1st--and hope to go back to teaching classes this spring. I can't wait to start strength training again--my tummy has never been this...well, loose. Glad to hear so many August sleevers are doing well! This site and everyone's support is truly helpful to so many of us.

I'm four weeks out today. My surgery was performed in Tijuana by Dr. Lopez's wife, Dr. Jacqueline Osuna. The whole experience was awesome. I have quite felt like moving onto solid foods yet. I'm still very comfortable at the mashed up stage, although I can handle more coarsely mashed/smooshed foods now. I will have to look up Korma chicken. I love chicken...but I have always been a dark meat fan. Guess I'll be switching to mostly breast meat from now on.

My problem is trying to keep up with all the Protein intake, but keep the calories down. I drink a 25g shake in the morning, but poor unflavored mix into it to add 21g more. Then for a little later snack, I have a cup of Greek yogurt with another pack of unflavored mix stirred in. With all that, I'm sitting pretty good at about 70 grams of protein, but about 526 calories. Gees, Protein Shakes and powers have a LOT more calories than I would have ever expected. I think I'm sticking close to about 800 calories a day for the time being. I still cannot eat very much at all. I had trouble downing the full cup of yogurt, but I do for the protein.

I'm so freaking happy right now! I just got my lab results from my PCP (who I see every 3 months because of T2 diabetes).

I haven't taken my metformin or my statin since surgery. I was on the highest does of a statin (80mg) pre-op, I had been monitoring my blood sugars, and they've been great.

Right before surgery my A1C was 6.4 while on 500mg of metformin 2x day. Last week, 4.5 weeks post-op, it's 6.1 w/o meds. I'm so happy!!!

My cholesteral total is 205 (ldl 148 hdl 33). I may end up on a low dose of a statin, we'll see. But the kicker is my triglycerides are normal (123...<150 is normal range). I can't remember them being below 300 in years, no matter what I eliminated from my diet.

I am just so amazed and grateful that in essentially a month after surgery I've seen such a difference.

Hello everyone. It's been a little while since I posted. I was sleeved August 11th and I am down 35 total. I'm completely over eating salmon and tuna but am happy that I was able to start eating salad this week. So far everything is going great and I couldn't be happier that I made this decision.

@@Karen Scott, check out The WorldAccordingToEggface website. She has all types of recipes. You have All recipe.com too. That site has all types of sleeve friendly recipes. I will be 4 weeks out on Friday. My NUT said I can have crackers like Triskets. I took three of those and added feta cheese, salsa, and a dot of sour cream on top. It was good eventhough I was only able to eat 1 1/2. He also suggest that I keep my sugar under 10 g per meal. Call your NUT to get clarity for their plan for you.

      Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

      2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

        I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

        I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

      I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

      Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

        I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation.
