I'm 7 days out today and have been off the pain meds since Saturday night... Haven't had any pain at all :/ everyone heals different I guess...

Lucky you!! I can't wait to be pain free *sigh* thinking positive thoughts, I will be better soon!

I was banded in March. I was on nabumetone for years for arthritis in my knees, shoulders and elbows. I never thought I would survive without my NSAIDs.

I filled a prescription for liquid Tylenol after surgery because I was told I would probably not be able to swallow pills.

Tylenol was no match for my arthritis. However, as the weight came off the pain went way way down.

Today I take two arthritis tylenol in the morning and only occasionally again in the evening. My pain is very manageable now.

I would never have believed it six months ago. But I also wouldn't have believed I'd be off of a blood pressure medicine, off of Prevacid, and off of my cholesterol med.

Life is good.

I was sleeved at 3pm today and I have a bit more pain than I was expecting. The doc provided me with Norco 7.5/325 and it does nothing for me. Might as well be a Water pill. In the am, I will be asking for something stronger.

My surgeon approved them before surgery and i have been 100% fine so far.....now that I'm thinner, i think they work even better....no issues here.

Mojos, does your doctor allow you to take pills after the sleeve? My doctor makes me crush everything and gave me a liquid pain med. I was just curious.

I have to crush mine and drink them in Water. Tastes nasty but they work. I didn't receive any liquid pain meds. I do have a pill that dissolves under my tongue I believe it's for stomach spasms.

I take Celebrex for chronic pain and my surgeon told me that I could continue to take it if I still need it.

I have been on Nabumatone, which is an NSAID, for several years due to arthritis. I can't take any aspirin products due to taking a blood thinner because of a heart issue. I can only take Tylenol. I was off the Nabumatone for about 6 weeks until I could start eating "regular" food. By that time my arthritis was giving me fits. I have not had any problems & my surgeon didn't say I couldn't take it. I see my internist/cardiologist next week so I will ask him since he is the prescribing doctor for the Nabumatone. I'm glad this subject came up.

I just googled nabumatone. I have had this prescribed to me in the past under the brand name relafen for my RA. Apparently, this particular NSAID is less likely to cause GI side effects than other NSAIDs because it doesn't promote acid production. Sounds like it may be a good option for "sleevers." I will talk to my doc about this too.

@@docbree , Relafen most definitely hurt my stomach pre op. I was on Prevacid twice a day or it would burn something awful. I may be sensitive to stomach issues. My mom was, and developed a life threatening bleeding ulcer from Voltarin back in 1990. So I have to be very careful. I tend to take after her physically in many ways.

@@docbree, my mom is on methotrexate for her RA but can't take anything else forever except Tylenol because of bleeding. Are you on any DMARDs?

I'm on Humira (along with Mobic, sulfasalazine, plaquenil). Couldn't tolerate methotrexate - ended up with high liver enzymes. Humira has been a God send - but I still need NSAIDs on a daily basis. I developed bleeding last summer from ibuprofen - but I was taking a LOT. Also take a lot of tylenol :/

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
