I've been off grid for awhile. I was sleeved March 25, 2015 and I am down 125 lbs! Went from a size 24 to size 10...this was the best decision of my life! I moved from SE KS to Brooklyn, NY last month. I commute using mass transit which involves lots of walking and stairs. Could not have done it prior to surgery. Now it's a breeze.

I did great my first year got to goal was staying active and doing well. 4 months ago I hurt my back and have been very limited in my activity and in a fair amount of pain, in addition my life has been very stressful. I am now hungry all the time just like before.,I am eating too many carbs and grazing but I am having a hard time getting back on track. I have gained 12 lbs and am terrified I will keep gaining. Any advice,,suggestions or a kick in the behind will be appreciated

Hi traveler60 ! Good for you for coming back here! I had my Tummy Tuck surgery done 2 months ago and have not been to the gym and gained 4 lbs and so I too need to get back on track...we are both the same height...I am currently at 143 lbs...need to get back under 140. I am starting the 5:2 diet on Monday and finally going back to the gym today....please please don't let yourself gain any more....remember how good you must have felt at 140 lbs. Try the 5:2....it is only 2 days a week....just google it and you can see the details, but basically it's just eating 500 calories for 2 days a week. Let's do it together...my days are Mondays and Thursdays.

Thanks Queen. I'm in.,I'll start the 5:2 on Monday. I'm seeing a pain specialist on Tuesday, so hopefully they can do something for my back so I can start exercising again as well

Hi all, I had my pulmonary drs visit yesterday....need a note from him to clear me for surgery. Well he was hesitant saying I don't need weight loss surgery!

Why can't i do it the old way? Eat less and exercise and before you eat you get on the scale see what you weigh, then you won't eat much!

I was about ready to cry, didn't think he would clear me for wls.

Well he gave me a note, I'm stable at this time. Woo hoo! But he wants to see me again Nov 3, just before my surgery I have copd my lungs are pretty bad so here's praying they hold out for surgery!

I hate when non bariatric specialist insert their personal opinions... your pulmonary doc only need to address the issue with your lungs...unless there is a medical reason you should not have the surgery.. he should keep his personal opinion to himself..

I had the same problem with my primary docs office.

I am pre-op and also age 51. I live in Florida. I was diagnosed copd 2/7/16 and never picked up another cigarette. I was already 220 , but steroids pushed me higher to 242. Feeling empowered since I quit smoking, even though I still have high blood pressure, but now I want my body and my energy back. It is scary at this age, but I am hoping for a healthier life.

Exactly what I was hoping, to feel like my 30s again. Thanks for the positive response. I am feeling older than I am, and can't wait to feel young again. I'm ready to make the changes in my life too. I still feel I have a lot of living to do. I love reading about everyone's journey on here and I am so glad I found this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
